The "Monster Hunter" series, celebrating its 20th anniversary, followed by the "Resident Evil" series, surpassed 100 million units sold worldwide!
Capcom has announced that the cumulative worldwide sales of the "Monster Hunter" series have surpassed 100 million units*1.
The "Monster Hunter" series is a hunting action game in which players face off against giant monsters in a magnificent natural setting. After creating a social phenomenon with its development for portable devices and establishing a firm position as a national game, "Monster Hunter: World," released in 2018, propelled the series into a global brand. The game has sold more than 1 million units for seven consecutive fiscal years since its release, surpassing 25 million units in total, and is still making great strides to break the company's all-time record for the number of units sold. 2
In addition, the company has been promoting the expansion of platforms and long-term global digital sales of both titles by rolling out "Monster Hunter Rise" in 2021 and "Monster Hunter Rise: Sun Break," a super-sized paid content expansion of the same title, in 2022. These two titles have sold approximately 2 million units each year since their launch, with cumulative sales of "Monster Hunter Rise" reaching 15 million units and "Monster Hunter Rise: Sun Break" reaching 8 million units.
In addition to the release of these appealing new titles and the development of a wide range of businesses that go beyond games, including video, food and beverage, and merchandise, the announcement of "Monster Hunter Wilds," the latest in the series to be released in 2025, has been supported by heightened user expectations, and cumulative sales of the series have surpassed 100 million units*1.
