<Storyline>.
The story takes place in 18th century England during the Industrial Revolution. Fearing the loss of their influence over wealthy patrons, the alchemy guild engages in a madcap act to protect their vested interests. They summoned demons from hell by gathering up children with no relatives, forcing them to fuse with crystals imbued with demonic powers to create human beings, shardlinkers, and offering them as sacrifices. Although this was a fear-mongering tactic, it resulted in uncontrollable destruction, and many people were killed until the church defeated the demons. Only two shardlinkers survived. Ziebel, a young man who was sacrificed but miraculously survived. The main character, Miriam, is a girl who escaped her mortal fate by falling into a mysterious sleep before being sacrificed.

Ten years later, Miriam awakens from her sleep and learns that Jeebel has summoned a demon to take revenge on humans.
Miriam sets out alone to confront the demon's lair in order to stop her former best friend, Jibel.

Main Characters

Miriam

Shardlinker, 18 years old. As a child, she was kidnapped by the Alchemy Guild and underwent a special technique in which crystals were implanted in her body. In the ritual 10 years ago, she fell into a mysterious sleep just before the ceremony and was spared from being sacrificed. She awakens as if to coincide with the resurrection of the demon castle, and decides to stop the evil deeds of Jibel, whom she once loved like an older brother.

Giebel.

Shardlinker, age 30. He was kidnapped and raised by the Alchemy Guild. He is the only one who survived the sacrifice of many Shardlinkers in a ritual 10 years ago, and he learns that he and the others were deceived. Out of resentment, he destroys the guild with his own hands and disappears. Now, he appears before Miriam and her friends as the master of the Devil's Castle, where demons lurk.

Johannes.

Alchemist, 33 years old. He is a member of the alchemy guild that converted Miriam and her friends. Because he had no knowledge of the dark side of the guild and because they were close in age, he treated Miriam and Ziebell as friends. After the collapse of the guild, he focused on researching crystals and awakening Miriam with Dominique's help. Miriam awakens as observed, but at the same time, Jibel calls for the castle, and he and Miriam board the ship.

Dominic

Exorcist, age 25. He and Zangetsu were sent by the church to investigate the appearance of the castle. Since he knew about the relationship between Miriam and Giebel, he asked Johannes to bring Miriam to the village of Urvant. She thought that Miriam was the best person to stop Giebel, so she confirmed Miriam's intention. She asks Zangetsu, who has accompanied her, to stop Alfred, and she supports him.

Zangetsu

Zangetsu is an oriental mage, 35 years old. Zangetsu is his street name; his real name is unknown. In the fierce battle, he lost one eye, one arm, and all his companions except himself. In order to avenge his brother's death, he has given himself over to the church and is following its instructions.

Alfredo

Alchemist Aged 57, Alfred is one of the alchemists who sacrificed Shardlinker 10 years ago to summon demons. He is also Johannes' mentor. He barely survived when his guild was destroyed by Giebel. He wanders around in search of the lost Book of Rogaeus, but when the castle is restored, he is convinced that the Book of Rogaeus is involved and appears at the castle.
