Claudia from Milan, Italy, cosplays and goes to the cinema! Italy Romics.

Romics, an anime and game festival, was held at Fiera di Roma in Rome, Italy, from April 4 to 7. The event, which has been held since 2001, has attracted more than 200,000 visitors, not unlike the Comic Market in Japan. In addition to screenings and stage events, the event is also used as a venue for exchanges to further enhance the value of the otaku industry business.

Cosplay is also attracting attention as a major culture in Italy, with contests held by cosplayers. This time, we interviewed cosplayer Claudia, who came to Romics from Milan. We asked her about her impressions of the event and her cosplaying history.

--Where are you from?

I'm from Milan, Italy. Did you come all the way from Japan to "Romics*"? I am very happy to hear that! Welcome to Romics!

--Thank you very much! I was wondering if you could tell me what you thought of the event.

I enjoyed the cosplay. I love comics very much, so "Romics" is great because there are a lot of comics. Besides, I love cosplay, so I am very happy to see so many cosplayers participating! When I heard that Epicos would be exhibiting at Romics, I was really looking forward to it.

*Editor's note... "Romics" is an exhibition and sales event for manga and anime held in Rome, Italy since 2001. It is currently held twice a year, in April and October.

-- "Epicos" is a ......?

We are an organization in Europe that specializes in cosplay. We have cosplay contests at various events in Europe, and we cooperate with pop culture festivals to make the events more exciting. Besides, I met and talked a lot with cosplayers who belong to "Epicos", so it was a lot of fun.

--I was very happy to see that there is such an organization. By the way, what is today's cosplay?

It's Charlie Morningstar from "The Husbin Hotel*. I chose this cosplay because it is a very strong and beautiful character. I really love this work and character, so I am very happy to be able to show it off at "Romics"!

*Editor's note... "The Hazbin Hotel" is an American indie animated musical series for adults, available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in Japanese dubbed under the title "Welcome to the Hazbin Hotel".

-What is the point of your costume?

Hmmm......... I make them myself, but I don't really have any deep feelings about them.

--Which part are you most confident about?

I guess my face. Isn't my makeup amazing? (laughs).

--I would like to ask you about your past, when did you start cosplaying?

I started in 2018.

--What kind of cosplay have you done so far?

Aside from "Husbin Hotel," I've cosplayed as Yae Kamiko in "Genshin Impact," Jinx in "League of Legends," Zero Two in "Darling in the Frankis," Yuno Wagatsuma in "Future Diary," as well as "Chainsaw Man," "SPY x FAMILY," "That dress-up doll is in love. and DEATH NOTE.

--What is your favorite cosplay?

I like them all. I can't narrow it down to just one!

--What are your hobbies?

My hobby is watching videos and movies. Of course, I also love cosplay! Sometimes I go to the movies in cosplay because I love both.

As movies are her hobby, AGNE sometimes goes to the movie theater in cosplay. She is so passionate about cosplay in her personal life that we can expect to see more of her work in the future.
