Hot and spicy hot and spicy soup for 1,190 yen at JIN Akihabara! What kind of food is "hot and spicy"? A spicy and tasty first experience!

When you come to Akihabara, you may have a hard time deciding where to have lunch.

To help you decide, here are some Akiba eats that I, Shun Gori, who is always roaming around Akihabara even when I don't have anything to do, recommend.

As an Akibaite who prefers to spend money on his hobbies, I have chosen to focus on dishes that you can usually eat for less than 1,000 yen, assuming that you can spend less than 1,000 yen for lunch, but I must warn you that I have gone a little over budget this time to try some new tastes.

Akihabara has become a place where one can enjoy ramen, curry, kebabs, and recently, Belgian fritters and other delicacies from all over the world, but in March 2024, a new restaurant called "JIN Akihabara," which specializes in hot and sour pork dishes, opened. Even the author, who had moved to China and Taiwan, had never seen or heard of a food called "hot and spicy hot sauce," so I was very intrigued.

So this time, I visited the "hot and spicy hot sauce specialty restaurant JIN Akihabara," where hot and spicy hot sauce is served.

The restaurant is located about an 8-minute walk from the Electric Town exit of JR Akihabara Station, in the back alley near the Kanda Fire Station, in front of the Tokyo Sales Division of Ehime Beverage, a well-known Pon Juice company.

The sign in front of the store reads, "The hot and spicy hot sauce is popular among women because it is healthy, with vegetables and vermicelli as the main ingredients! and "Healthy and popular among women!

The interior of the restaurant looks cozy with only eight counter seats along the wall, but the brightly lit interior is kept clean.

There is no specific lunch menu, and as the name of the restaurant suggests, there are three types of dishes on the menu: hot and spicy hot and spicy hot and spicy hot sauce, hot and spicy hot and spicy hot sauce, and small and spicy white hot sauce. Each menu item comes in simple sizes: S, M, and L.

If you want a little more, we recommend adding "white rice" or "fried rice set" to your order.

Since the restaurant is located right in front of the Ehime Beverage Tokyo Sales Headquarters, it has recently introduced a lineup of "Pon" brand beverages.

What kind of food is "hot and spicy hot sauce," a staple in China?

As a restaurant specializing in hot and sour soup, I was told that the most popular dish is hot and sour soup, so of course I ordered that.

As mentioned above, you can choose from S, M, and L sizes, but even the S size is said to be enough for women, so it would be better to choose the menu based on the S size.

Since I was on a diet, I ordered the S size hot and sour soup, 1,190 yen (including tax).

The list of ingredients in the "hot and spicy" soup is displayed in the storefront. The owner has carefully selected the ingredients for each dish.

If there is an ingredient you do not like, tell the owner when you hand in your meal ticket and he will remove it.

This is the "Hot and spicy soup S" that I ordered this time, priced at 1,190 yen. From the top, it may not look like much, but the deep bottom of the bowl makes it appear larger than it is.

The ingredients on top of the noodles, as shown in the list above, are very luxurious, including enoki mushrooms, bean sprouts, sausage, meatballs, and more. It is as luxurious as the hot pot that I used to eat in Taiwan for one person. It is surprising that the price was kept at 1,190 yen with such a wide variety of ingredients.

When eating noodles, it is my custom to try the noodles first.

As I shoveled my way through the large amount of ingredients, out came the vermicelli noodles. I had expected noodles like ramen noodles, but in fact, vermicelli noodles are used in this restaurant's hot and spicy hot sauce.

Vermicelli is a food made from starch such as mung bean, potato, and corn, so people with wheat allergies or those on the recently popular low-sugar diet can eat it without worry.

When I took a bite of the vermicelli noodles, I did not find them to be that spicy at first, but as I continued to eat, I could feel my body warming up. The hot and spicy (hua zhang zhang and chili pepper) flavor must have been effective.
I kept slurping the vermicelli noodles while eating the abundant ingredients.
I was excited to see what ingredients would be served next.

The noodles were so delicious that I finished them in no time at all.
However, while I was deciding on my order at the ticket machine, I remembered seeing a menu item that caught my attention.
Yes, it was "hot and spicy, not recommended.

I was very surprised to see a menu item that the restaurant did not recommend.

...... So, I went back to try the "Hot and spicy, not recommended," which is priced at 1,490 yen. The ingredients used in the "hot and spicy, extremely spicy, not recommended" are the same as those used in the regular hot and spicy "hot and spicy, extremely spicy, not recommended" dish, but the level of spiciness is different! The spiciness of the huajiao and chili peppers comes with a thud, and it is very hot. However, the balance between "spicy" and "tasty" is well balanced, so it is not only spicy but also tasty, so you can't stop eating.

The pepper seems to be submerged at the bottom of the bowl, so every time you stir it from the bottom, you can enjoy the intense numbness.

This time, I was hungry, so I ordered the medium size and finished it in no time.

This is my face when I finished the "Hot and spicy, extremely spicy, not recommended.

I like spicy food, but since I have a very high metabolism, I was drenched in sweat.

If you are a sweaty person, I recommend that you bring a towel.

So, this time, I went to "JIN Akihabara," a restaurant specializing in hot-and-sour hot-and-sour hot sauce.

The dish "hot and spicy hot sauce," which is not often heard of in Japan, was like having a hot pot with a lot of ingredients all to yourself. It is a little spicy, so those who do not like spicy food should try the "Hakyuyu". Those who are tired of eating ramen noodles should also try the vermicelli noodles, as they are healthy and fresh tasting!
