Review of the new open world "Naruto"! Comfortable exploration in a vast field and fast-paced action at high speed!
The action game "Meicho" (鳴潮) has been available for iOS, Android, and PC since May 23, 2024. This is a new title released by KURO GAMES, which previously produced "Panishing: Grey Raven". This paper will provide a review of this title, which has just started service.
In a world destroyed by "screams," the protagonist travels through Solaris in search of his lost memories.
The setting of this work is a planet called Solaris. The planet was once inhabited by human beings, but was devastated by a disaster caused by the "scream" phenomenon and the "afterimages" that appeared as a result of it. The survivors somehow managed to rebuild their lives, establishing bases in various regions and continuing to fight the afterimages that still threaten people with the help of "resonators," human beings with supernatural powers.
The protagonist wakes up near Konju Castle, one of humanity's strongholds, and meets two women, Yang Yang and Sika, who take care of him. The protagonist, who has lost his memory and is at a loss, goes to Imaju Castle at the suggestion of the two women, and encounters various incidents and events on his way there. This is the synopsis of the film.
At Imashu Castle, the protagonist is treated as a "big shot," and a suspicious man he meets on his way to investigate treats him as if he were one of his own. The main character's characteristics are often described, including a scene in which he senses a being called "Toshi-Lord," suggesting that he has the power to influence the course of the world.
The first place the protagonist heads to, Imashu Castle, is a prosperous metropolis. Looking out over the area, including Imaju Castle, from a vantage point, one is reminded of the scenery of a fantasy RPG with a bright atmosphere. Solaris is said to have collapsed a long time ago, but at the start of the game, it appears to have made considerable progress in its recovery, and many people are living well inside Imaju Castle. Although the setting is heavy, the actual world that players come into contact with is familiar and inviting to their adventurous spirit.
A vast world of bases, powerful enemies, and riddles to solve
This title features an open world, allowing players to explore every nook and cranny of a world that stretches as far as the eye can see. The locations vary from open fields with great views to collapsed cities and dimly lit caves. It is up to the player to decide when and where to explore, so the freedom to explore at will is one of the features of this title.
The map will probably be expanded in future updates, but if the fast-travel function that allows instant warping from place to place is not used, it is likely to take a considerable amount of time just to get from one place to another. Even at the current volume, it would take dozens of hours to fully explore.
Convenient functions make it easy to explore the vast field.
When using the fast-travel function in this work, it is necessary to check the signal towers in various locations. Once a signal tower has been surveyed, the user can warp to it at any time from the map screen. This work can be explored on foot without stress, but as one would expect, it takes time if the destination is too far away, so it is advisable to use both normal travel and fast travel depending on the distance.
There are affordable afterimages at each location, but there are also strong enemies that can only be defeated with a well-developed character. You may run into a strong afterimage while exploring smoothly, or you may get into a pinch by taking on a group of zako enemies in a good mood.
Another feature of this work is the vast number of treasure chests available. There are a variety of types of treasure chests, from those that can be opened as soon as you get close to them to those that require a bit of puzzle-solving. In addition, the game is filled with many side trips of various sizes, allowing the player to enjoy the subquests without taking time away from the storyline. Those who tend to get caught up in such side-trips are sure to be hooked.
One of the main features of this title is the exploration feature. Except for battle scenes, there is no stamina consumption during dashing. In addition to aerial movement using a rope and wall-running, which can be done vertically or even vertically, the game automatically overcomes small bumps, making it very comfortable to move around.
The wall-running is especially excellent, and the character can run up a wall by dashing up to it. Even if there is a rat's nest of terrain above his head, he can easily climb over it by twisting his body, so he can move without regard to the terrain.
If the character dashes to the side while climbing, it is possible to shift to wall-running on the spot. This makes it very easy to open treasure chests on high ground that would normally require a lot of climbing. In open-world games, the vastness of the field makes it important to know how to move around, but in this game, wall-running and other stress-free features make it possible to comfortably explore without using the fast-travel function.
Enjoy high-speed battles centered on parry and evasion.
In addition to normal attacks, the player uses special techniques such as " resonance skill " and " resonance release" to fight. Basically, the player simply presses the attack button repeatedly and uses resonance skills and resonance release when necessary, making the controls fairly simple.
The addition of " Parry " and " Just Evade " makes battles even more strategic. The " Parry " is a technique in which the player launches an attack at a specific time when the opponent attacks.
When the resonance gauge reaches zero, the enemy is disabled for a while, which gives us a chance to attack. Although you can reduce the resonance level itself by attacking normally, it is more efficient to perform a successful parry, so you should aim for it as much as possible. The timing for parry is the moment when the circle that appears when the enemy attacks glows. If you watch the circle carefully, it is easy to perform the parry.

Another action, " Just Evade," is a technique that is triggered when a character draws the attacker's attention and evades. A character who successfully performs just evade not only always avoids any attack, but can also launch a special normal attack immediately afterwards. If a character fails to parry, he will be hit by the enemy's attack, but "Just Evade" is a little safer because the normal evasion will always be triggered even if the character does not succeed. If you are not familiar with it, it is better to build your attack pattern around "Just Evade".
Useful "sound wreckage" that can also attack and support.
Afterimages that have been defeated leave behind "sound wreckage" with a certain probability. The sound wreckage is like data left behind by the enemy, and up to five absorbed sound wreckage can be equipped in a dedicated frame. In other words, what you acquire from the enemy afterimages can be used as equipment for your characters in this work.
When a wreckage is equipped in the top main slot of the five slots, the wreckage skill can be used during battle. There are a variety of skills that can be used to attack enemies or restore the HP of allies, making it difficult to choose which skills to equip the character with.
The wreckage also has a status correction. The items that are subject to correction are listed in the upper right corner of the screen, above the wreckage skills.
In addition, the wreckage has a " Harmony Effect. This effect is triggered when a certain number of wrecks of a certain attribute are equipped, and the effect changes depending on how the wrecks are arranged, including an increase in attack power. There are a variety of combinations of wreckage, some in the main slot, some in the sub-slot for the harmony effect, and so on. The combination of different types of sound sculptures can be changed according to the player's preference, such as specializing in attack because the player is good at battles, or specializing in recovery or defense because the player is easily hit by enemy attacks.
Otokodeki can be obtained not only from the afterimages of zakos, but also from bosses in various locations. Furthermore, as players collect sound sculptures, their "datadog level" increases, and the rate at which sound sculptures appear and the rarity at which they can be obtained increases with the level. The variety of effects makes customization itself fun, but the fact that the sound sculptures can be obtained from afterimages makes fighting enemies more meaningful, and I felt that this was very well thought out.
Install the PC version on an SSD as much as possible.
Although this is limited to the PC version, when installing this game, it is advisable to use SSD instead of HDD as the installation destination. Although the cause is unknown, it seems that when "Narutio" is started up on an HDD, the operation is unstable, and phenomena such as processing failures frequently occur during play (as of June 4, 2024). However, these phenomena do not appear to occur when put into SSD. It is expected that this problem will be resolved in a future update, but at this time, it is recommended that an SSD be prepared in advance when installing the PC version.
In addition to a mysterious story with impressive terms such as "scream" and "afterimage," the game features well-designed exploration elements that allow players to comfortably move around the vast world, and simple yet action-packed battles with parry and just evade. The game is currently available on smartphones and PC, but those who enjoy action and open-world games should definitely give it a try.
