What is the longest-established curry shop in Akihabara? Lahore Sotokanda, a curry store in Akiba for 37 years. 10 spicy black pork cutlet curry for 980 yen!

When you come to Akihabara, you may have a hard time deciding where to have lunch.

In order to help you choose the right place for lunch, I, Shun Gori, who is always roaming around Akihabara even when I have nothing else to do, would like to introduce some Akiba eats that I highly recommend.

As an Akibaite who likes to spend money on his hobbies, I will focus on the menu items that you can usually eat for less than 1,000 yen, assuming that the amount of money you can spend for lunch is within 1,000 yen.

Akihabara has become a place where you can enjoy ramen, kebabs, and recently, Belgian frites and other delicacies from all over the world, but you can't miss curry.

If you ask people who work in the Akihabara area, "What do you think of curry in Akihabara? the names that always come up are "Bengal," which we introduced earlier, and "Lahore Sotokanda," which is a curry restaurant in Akihabara.

This time, we visited "Lahore Soto-Kanda," a long-established curry restaurant that has been in business in Akihabara for 37 years.

Lahore Soto-Kanda is located about a 6-minute walk from the Electric Town Exit of JR Akihabara Station, one street back from Chuo-dori, on what is commonly known as "PC Parts Street.

Note that there is also a store called "Lahore Akihabara Store," which is part of a chain, but its address is in Taito Ward, and its menu is different from that of the "Soto-Kanda Store.

The signboard in the storefront describes the characteristics of the three types of curry available at Lahore, as well as the daily curry recommendations.

The inside of the restaurant has a Showa-era atmosphere that makes one feel nostalgic. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere with only 10 counter seats.

There is no specific lunch menu, and the ordering method is simple: choose your favorite curry roux from three types: Japanese, Indian, or black curry, and select toppings and the amount of rice you want. Dry curry is also available, which is also highly recommended.

The "Japanese-style" curry is a thicker curry familiar to Japanese households, the "Indian-style" is a dry curry based on a variety of spices, and the "Black Curry" is a deep curry based on the Indian-style curry with garlic and other ingredients added.

If you eat in the restaurant, you can have a large serving of rice for free, so it would be a good idea to consult with your stomach and ask for more.

The walls of the restaurant are covered with photos of the restaurant when it was interviewed by various media.

This time, we decided to order the "Black Curry" which is the restaurant's recommended "Black Curry" topped with pork cutlet for 930 yen, plus an extra 50 yen for 5 spices, making the Black Curry 10 spices!

The "Black Curry" can be adjusted from 1 to 5 spices for free, but there is a charge for anything above that.

While waiting for our curry, let's take a look around the restaurant.

Inside the restaurant, you will find a text describing the characteristics of Lahore's curry and a poster of a retort-pouch curry that you can enjoy at home. The retort-pouch curry is a perfect souvenir.

This is the "Black Katsu Curry 10 spicy" for 980 yen.

As the name "Black Curry" implies, it is a beautifully black curry.

The roux is somewhere between silky and thick.

The cutlet is thick enough to be chewy, but cut into bite-size pieces for easy eating.

The cutlet is also thick and chewy, but cut into bite-size pieces.

The spice level is set at 10, but it does not seem to be that hot. The spiciness is due to the spices, so if anything, it even tastes sweet. However, for those who do not like spicy food, it may be a little too spicy.

This is the author's situation after eating about half of it.

I don't mind spicy food, but my metabolism is so intense that I can't stop sweating.

I was able to taste the delicious spice of spicy food, and I finished it in no time.

This time, I ordered a regular serving, but I think I could have eaten a large serving in no time at all.

So, this time, we visited "Lahore Sotokanda," a long-established curry restaurant in Akihabara with a history of 37 years.

It was a restaurant where you could eat a full meal of delicious curry with a strong sense of spice.

Of course, Japanese-style and Indian-style curries are delicious in their own way, but I would like you to try their black curry at least once.

By the way, the spiciness can be adjusted for 10 yen per 1 spice, but from 30 to 100 spices can be adjusted for an additional 300 yen, so if there is someone who "just wants spicy food," it might be a good idea to order 100 spices.

Since the "spiciness that tastes good" varies from person to person, it will be fun to go back again and again to find the spiciness that tastes good to you.
