Comment by Sakura Shimpuku

Q1. Could you tell us about the appeal of this work?

One of the appeals of Koishima is that it is about high school students whose daily lives are different from what we take for granted, as school events and club competitions are cancelled due to an infectious disease. It is a work that reminds us that even days that seem empty are filled with invaluable encounters and treasured moments. I hope that students and people of all ages will watch this film!

Q2: What is your enthusiasm for playing the role of Mizuho Nishino?

Mizuho has some similarities to myself in high school, and I felt a strong affinity with Mizuho from the first time I read the original story. She is an ordinary high school student going through her daily life, worrying about her relationships with the important people around her and her own feelings. I hope I can play the role of Mizuho as she is without any decorations!

Kizuki Hazawa cv Kazuki Ura

A popular member of the swimming club. Among her childhood friends, she is the youngest character who goes at her own pace. He loves Mizuho and approaches her aggressively.

Comments from Kazuki Ura

Q1. Could you tell us about the appeal of this work?

I really like the life-sized love story of the main character, Mizuho, and the other characters. They are so cool and attractive that they are called "Koigahama Highlands," but they are still timid and blind to love, just like high school students. You can't watch them being swept away by love without getting a thrill out of them.

The subtleties of their hearts are so delicately depicted that I think it is fun to imagine various fantasies from each frame of the manga.

Q2: What is your enthusiasm for playing the role of Terutsuki Hazawa?

Terutsuki is a person whose facial expressions usually do not change much and it is difficult to read what he is thinking, but in fact, he has a straightforward personality that is easy to understand. I want to convey his unique mysteriousness and straightforwardness, as well as to convey his feelings in a natural way, so that I will carefully deliver each line of dialogue.

Kashiwagi Shin cv Yoshitaka Shion

An honor student with cool words and attitude. He is the student body president of Aogasaki High School.

While she is cool, she actually has a kind side, such as when she teaches Mizuho how to study.

Yoshitaka Shion's Comment

Q1. Could you tell us about the appeal of this work?

It is a work that makes me want to cherish again the time I live now and the youth I spent in the past. Mizuho and the four of them dazzle me! I'm so in love with them that I'm jealous of them,

Seeing them in their youth, with their friendship, fills me with something important that I had forgotten in my heart. I think they have the power to do their best tomorrow.

Q2. Could you tell us about your enthusiasm for playing the role of Fukun Kashiwagi?

I am really happy to be able to play the role of Shinobu this time. He is an honor student, cool and cool, but he also looks a little cute in front of Mizuho, which is the charm I felt while reading the book, and I will try my best to make him feel that he is living that charm in the anime.

I will do my best to bring his spirit to life while remembering my youth, so please give me your support!

Ai Izumi cv Shoya Chiba

Ai Izumi is a popular reader model and influencer.
She has a cheerful and laid-back personality, but she is also considerate of those around her. She often consults Mizuho for advice.

Shoya Chiba's Comment

Q1: Could you tell us about the appeal of this work?

I read it in book form at the time of the audition and was captivated by it. The city sea, the swimming pool at Teruki's club, the showers, etc... the water is very beautifully expressed. The beauty of youth combined with the fresh atmosphere of the story was my first impression. What attracted me was the psychological descriptions of the characters and the composition of the time axis, which I felt were carefully calculated. The story begins with a monologue by Mizuho in the future, but by inserting the future (and sometimes past) point of view, even the most casual of events are made to look impressive. The work is a combination of a direct and exciting development and a somewhat mature depth. You will discover something new every time you watch it again. By facing real-life situations, I feel that everyone will be able to think about them without being left behind. I am extremely happy to be able to perform!

Q2. Could you tell us about your enthusiasm for playing the role of Ai Izumi?

I would like to be a person who is liked by the audience and Mizuho and others around me. At first glance, he seems to be a cheerful and high-spirited man, but I don't want him to be frivolous. His ability to read the air is actually outstanding, due to his past and the many times he has had to deal with adults in his professional life, so I always try to chew out the intent of his statements. Because sometimes things that don't make sense make sense. However, I always think that I am playing a clown, but I see it all as coming down to the root of a "good guy," so I try to keep that as my axis. I also hope to lighten the atmosphere of the recording sessions, both in terms of the roles and the age of the cast.

Shugo Hoshikawa cv Keishi Inomata

A boy of literature and subculture, he is the more dry-spoken of the four, but he is a mood-maker.
He is always teasing Mizuho. He loves cooking like his father.

Keishi Inomata's Comment

Q1. Could you tell us about the charm of this work?

They are five childhood friends who are usually good friends. There are feelings of love that can't be abandoned, feelings that are realized to be love, but they are important to each other, so it is better to remain friends. When I was in high school, I had memories of not being able to tell my friends because I was afraid that it might destroy our relationship. I hope you enjoy their sad, exciting, and sparkling youth!

Q2: What is your enthusiasm for playing the role of Shugo Hoshikawa?

I will be playing the role of Shugo Hoshikawa. My name is Keishi Inomata! Shugo is a handsome, bespectacled, literary boy, who is often outspoken and quick-witted, but he also keeps a close eye on his four important childhood friends and plays an important role among the five of them. He may seem mature, but he is a tall boy. I will do my best to play him as a life-sized high school student!

Director Shunichi Yamamoto comment

Q1. Could you tell us about the appeal of this film?

There are many things that are appealing about this film, but I would say the fresh characters drawn by Mr. Mitsui, the relationship between the characters and their childhood friends, and the setting.

And the setting? I think it is a theme that is highly sympathetic to students living today, and I also felt that it is a story that asks how we should support the younger generation from an adult's perspective. I also think it is an appealing film made from a gentle, watchful viewpoint.

Q2: What is your enthusiasm as a director?

The original story is very transparent and beautifully drawn, so I would like to make an animated film that is close to the original story, but also gives the viewer a sense of reality, as if they are watching the relationship between Mizuho and his friends right in front of their eyes.

I want to draw the four handsome childhood friends in a cool way and Mizuho in a cute way. I also want to make the background art, cinematography, and music more transparent to create an emotional work of art!
