Mononokai" aired in 2007 on Fuji Television's late-night anime slot "Noitamina". It is a popular work that ranked high among dozens of works in a fan poll held as a project for the 15th anniversary of "Noitamina". It is also the starting point for director Kenji Nakamura, who has created such unique works as "Flying Trapeze," "C," "Suspension Ball," and "Gatchaman Crows.

Last year, as one of the commemorative projects for the 15th anniversary of the broadcast of "Mononokai," a completely new theatrical project was announced, set in the inner chambers of a grand palace. ["Mononokai the Movie: Chapter 2 "Hi-Nezumi" will be released on Friday, March 14, 2025!

It was announced that the second chapter of "Mononokai the Movie: Fire Rat" exists and that it will be released on March 14, 2025 (Friday).
In the last scene of "Mononokai Karakasa the Movie," the medicine man senses the presence of a new mononokai, and as soon as he sees a meaningful expression on his face, the sliding doors close and the story comes to an end. The story ends with the closing of the sliding doors. As the end rolls, the words "Chapter 2: Continues to Fire Rat" appear, and the existence of a sequel is revealed as a surprise. The production team wanted those who visited the theater on the opening day of the film to be the first to know about the second chapter.

The first Mubichike cards are now on sale!

It was also announced that the first Mubicchike cards for Chapter 2 will go on sale on August 2 (Fri.), and the design was also unveiled.
A medicine peddler stands alone in a room with an endless stream of glossy colors from the ceiling to the walls and the floor. In his hand is a balance, but there seems to be no sign that he has yet to announce the presence of the mononoke. In the foreground, a chessboard and pieces can be seen, but we can confirm that they are of an unusual design, as is typical of the "mononokei. The pieces are in disarray on the floor, which makes us imagine that something unusual has just happened.
A Japanese paper-style A4 visual card with the same design will be included as a bonus with the purchase of the Mubichiket card.

The Mononokai the Movie" is composed of three chapters!

In addition, the fact that "Mononokai the Movie" is composed of three chapters was revealed, and comments were received from the creator of the series, Kenji Nakamura.

Comment from Kenji Nakamura, creator of the series

I designed "Mononokai the Movie" so that first-time viewers who have not seen the TV version can watch it without hesitation.
The two subsequent theater versions will be completed as one independent theater work.
The stage of "O-oku" (the inner chambers of the Imperial Palace) and the story of the medicine man slaying the "Mononokai" will be maintained, but the flavor and balance will be different for each chapter. The stage is "Ooku," and the type of work in which a medicine man kills a "mononokai" will be maintained, but the flavor and balance will be different for each chapter. The other characters will also continue to face "kaiju" (strange things). The trilogy as a whole is also a story of a medicine man cutting down a big "passion".
We will do our utmost to produce this work, so we hope that you will all continue to support us for a while longer! We will continue to do our best!

Ooku is a special place, a "woman's garden" and an important bureaucracy, where men are forbidden.
Newly recruited maid Asa (Tomoyo Kurosawa) and Kame (Aoi Yuki) enter this place.
Asa is a brilliant and talented woman seeking to advance her career, while Kame is a woman seeking a place in the inner palace, a place she has always longed to be.
From day one, these two opposites are forced to participate in a "ritual" to become part of the group.
Utayama (Mami Koyama), a courtesan, puts the prosperity and perpetuation of the inner chambers first and organizes the ladies' maids, but there is something hidden behind her expressionless face. But behind her expressionless face, she is hiding something.
Finally, a decisive tragedy occurs, and the medicine man (Kamiya Hiroshi) follows the monster to the center of the inner chambers, but the sword that can cut and exorcise the monster must have the three elements of "form," "truth," and "reason" to be able to break the seal.
When the medicine seller comes in contact with the horrifying and sad truth hidden in the inner chambers, the ritual of exorcism and salvation begins...
