Speaking of sweets in Akihabara, there is a wide variety of sweets such as taiyaki, crepes, and tapioca drinks, but shaved ice is a must in summer.

This time, we visited the juice stand "Karyo MATSUTOMI," a 0-minute walk from Suehirocho Station.

Karyo Matsutomi is located along Chuo-dori Avenue, just outside Exit 1 of Suehirocho Station on the Tokyo Metro Line. The store was originally an old kamaboko store that was remodeled to create a retro atmosphere.

Incidentally, "Karyo MATSUTOMI" originally had a background as a fruit and vegetable wholesaler at the Kanda Fruit and Vegetable Market near Akihabara Station until 1989. Upon the market's relocation, the company took advantage of its many years of experience in the fruit and vegetable wholesale business to open "Karyo MATSUTOMI," offering fresh fruit and vegetable juices that allow customers to enjoy the true flavor of the ingredients.

The store displays a menu of juices made from seasonal fruits and vegetables.

The interior of the renovated 70-year-old kamaboko store has a Showa-era atmosphere with the warmth of wood and a nostalgic feeling. The restaurant has four wooden chairs that look like they were once used at an elementary school, so you can sit down to eat or drink inside the store.

Fruit juices are the mainstay of the store, but starting this year, they are also offering shaved ice made from fresh fruit for a limited time only.

This time, the shaved ice is what we are looking for.

There are four flavors to choose from: strawberry, raspberry, kiwi, and pineapple.

All of the flavors look delicious, and it was very difficult to decide which one to order, but I decided to go with pineapple because "summer means pineapple! So I selected "Pineapple" (600 yen including tax) for my order!

Normally, pineapple is completely pulverized when it is made into juice, but when it is processed into shaved ice syrup, it is made to have just the right texture to allow the customer to enjoy the texture of the fruit.

By alternately layering the shaved ice with this fruit syrup, the shaved ice can be enjoyed alternately with the rich fruit syrup and the crisp ice.

It is nice that the fruit is sparingly strewn in the ice.

The ice is not the fine-grained fluffy stuff that is so popular these days, but rather a crunchy, shaved texture that allows you to feel the grains of ice as in the past.

Fruits keep coming out as you eat and eat, so you can enjoy it all the way through.

This time, we visited the juice stand "Karyo MATSUTOMI" just outside Exit 1 of Suehirocho Station.

The shaved ice, made with an abundance of fruits carefully selected with an eye cultivated over many years in the fruit and vegetable wholesale business, tasted luxurious and was extremely delicious. The shaved ice not only replenished the water I had lost while strolling around Akihabara, but also provided me with the natural vitamins of fresh fruit, killing two birds with one stone.

The store also offers fruit and ham sandwiches for purchase, but reservations are required for these sandwiches, so those who want to try them should make their reservations ahead of time.
