[Plastic Model Review] "I've been waiting for ...... all my life!" Voice actor Yasuyuki Tai takes on the long-awaited "MODEROID BARONZU" from the legendary Tomino anime "Bren Powered!
When you are a working adult, you tend to have a lot of plastic models piled up in your busy life. ...... In this series, Yasuyuki Tai, a voice actor who loves robots and plastic models, takes on the challenge of building plastic models on your behalf!
The concept is "Even busy working people can make it this far on weekends and vacations! The only two rules of this article are that the model must be finished as an unassembled model and that you can spend only one or two days to build it! Read this series, and you will surely find the plastic model you want to build.
Taiyuki's Weekend Plastic Modeling Vol. 96 "MODEROID BARONZOO
The "Bren Powered" series released by Good Smile Company's plastic kit series "MODEROID" has been well received!
The long-awaited Baron Zhu has finally been released. Many of you may have been traumatized by its performance in the movie, and we believe that the power and charm of the figure is fully reproduced in this kit.
The package illustration depicts the figure flying high in the sky, with the shoulder fins deployed. The contrast between the white body and the light green scattered in various parts is beautiful.
This is the unassembled model. No stickers are used. The figure is beautifully divided and pre-painted, so it can be assembled to look as close as possible to the image in the movie.
Looking from the back, you can see the internal mechanism made of stacked plate-like parts. The sculpture is deep, so even without any smearing, the shadows fall and give the figure a three-dimensional appearance.
The red parts for the eyes are painted parts. The green parts around the temples are separate parts. Green parts on both shoulders are painted parts.
The neck can swing back and forth.
Because of this design, the joints of the parts are not noticeable at all.
The deployment of the shoulder fins is reproduced by replacing the parts. It will be introduced later.
The armor of the forearms is color-coded by dividing the parts.
The armored parts of the chest and waist will look more three-dimensional if you apply a smear finish.
The waist is connected with ball joints, so twisting is easy.
The shoulder area is divided into smaller parts. ......
Arms can be lifted horizontally.
The elbow joints can roll and rotate at each of the upper and lower elbow joints, which is quite useful for adding expression to both arms. Both left and right wrists come with fists and flat hands with expressions.
The legs are also wonderfully movable.
The cockpit hatch at the waist is replaceable and can be selected to open or close.
The toe and heel parts can also be moved significantly.
Hip joint swings widely up and down at the base.
By replacing the lower waist part, you can connect it to "The Simple Stand" (sold separately) to recreate a floating state.
After all, the anti-body looks great flying around.
Now it is time to replace the fin parts.
Let's start with the small fins on the front of the shoulders. Replace it with the sword-shaped fin. The green color on the tip of the fin is color coded by stickers.
The back side is also detailed.
The larger fins on both shoulders are shown here in their deployed state. By replacing the parts, you can recreate this bold and disastrous appearance.
The tips of the fins are also color-coded with stickers.
Of course, all fin deployment parts can be attached.
The left and right interchangeable wrists also include a weapon handle, but this is because the "Quincy Baron Zhu", a color variation kit available only from the online store, comes with a handheld weapon and sword extension, and the "Baron Zhu" sold to the general public does not include a corresponding weapon. The "Baron Zhu" sold by the general public does not come with a corresponding weapon.
In addition, I thought "⁉ to make it come with a plastic kit"! This is a minifigure of Baron Maximilian, and although it must be painted, this is an interesting accessory.
He is flying with his cape fluttering. The simple stand" can be connected to the joint hole on his back.
Even when zoomed in, you can see the high accuracy of the modeling. He is very spirited.
The protrusions on the left and right sides of the board are for stable placement, so you can cut them off if you want to display it in flight.
One extra step to make it more three-dimensional
Finally, we added an "extra step. This time, I simply used GSI Creos' "Multi-Gray" weathering color for the entire body and "Last Orange" for the shoulder armor.
The figure looked very three-dimensional even as unassembled, but the smudging process made it look even more three-dimensional.
The details around the head are more clearly defined.
For the shoulder armor, we used "Last Orange" based on the package illustration. Brownish lines have been added.
The details of the chest armor will be clearer if it is smeared.
In order to make the best use of the smooth design of the armored legs, I used a smudged image.
The plate-like laminated parts were also simply smudged to give a nice finish.
The fin parts in the unfolded state were also smeared in the same way. I avoided smearing the parts with stickers because the paint might run under the stickers.
Last Orange" is originally a rust color, but in this case, I think it did a good job of smearing.
I didn't get to paint Baron Maximilian this time, but this is a good opportunity for you to try painting your own figures.
Although there is no news so far on the next kit in the "Bren Powered" series, we are hoping that they will go this far to sculpt the two Brenchilds that Kanan and Higgins will be flying.
We have high expectations for MechaSma!
