Taiyuki's Weekend Plastic Model Vol. 98 The Great Barn Gaan

The "Yusha" series of robot anime still holds a special place in the hearts of many fans. In the "New Generation Robot Battle Brave Saga" (1998), a PlayStation game in which the heroes join forces to fight a giant evil, the "Great Barn Gaan," also known as the ninth hero, was created.

Although he only appeared in the game, his popularity was as great as that of his predecessors, and he reigned as a popular hero for a long time.

It is not that there have not been three-dimensional products in the past, but this time, from Kotobukiya, which has been actively promoting the kit version of the "Brave Series" aiming for the best proportions, finally ...... and suddenly "Great Burn Gaan" has been released! The package is a scene of the completion of the combination.

The package is a powerful illustration reminiscent of a scene where the merging is complete.

This kit is a companion kit of the Great Burn Gahn and Burn Gahn. In this article, we will start with the "Ryujin Gosei Burn Gaan" before the Great Combination.

Taken in the image of the OP video. You can reproduce the floating state by using the "New Flying Base" (sold separately).

Now, let's take a look at the heroic figure of Burn Gaan again. No stickers. With parts division and pre-painted parts, reproduce the color separation up to this point. Moreover, no glue is required for this level of perfection!

I feel that the know-how gained from the "Yusha Series" kits that have been released up to now has come to fruition here.

I didn't remember much about the back view, but this is how it was supposed to look. The cannon has a ball joint connection.

The face parts and the metallic green forehead are painted. The face is sharply sculpted and has a sturdy expression.

The lower jaw of the dragon on the chest can be opened and closed. You can see the gun muzzle inside.

The component parts of the waist are arranged in the same way as the previous generations of heroic robots. The side armor shows the design of dragon's claws.

This is how the legs of a heroic robot should look like! I think. The legs have a bold, angular silhouette and strong legs.

Clear parts are used for the shoulders of the truck that transforms into the body of Barn Gaan when in "Gaan Dasher" form, which is the driver's seat. The parts are carefully divided to avoid unnatural joints.

Here, too, there is a design that looks like a dragon's claw.

The forearms are designed to look like a combination of a dragon's head and claws. Apart from the elbows and wrists, the middle of the forearms also have a movable part that can be folded inward, allowing for poses with a lot of power.

A cannon is connected to the center block of the backpack. Each of the left and right sides have ball joint connections. The wing can also rotate on its axis and swing backward.

The red surface on the bottom of the backpack is also reproduced in separate parts.

The wheels at the rear of the gun dasher are also placed three on each side. Here also color-coded by dividing the parts.

The wrists come in 5 types, 10 in total, including 2 types of weapon handles on the left and right sides, 2 types of open hands, and an assembled fist.

Two Deyuaru Lancer can be connected with joint parts to form twin blades. The chest ornament is movable to a certain degree, so if you adjust the position, you can also have both arms forward to hold the twin blades.

As with previous "Yusha Series" kits, the range of motion is good. The ankles are also connected with ball joints for good ground contact. The wings can be replaced to create different angles.

Holding dual lancers in both hands, Burn Gaan approaches the enemy.

It leaps up its wings and raises its twin blades in a big swing.

I moved in even closer with the agitation. It is a powerful scene, but it is a little difficult to see the head.

This is a point of concern for a heroic robot with many decorations on its chest, but depending on the angle, the face may be hidden like this. That is why this kit comes with a neck part for when you see it in agitation.

Here is the neck for the agitated view. How do you like it? The face is now clearly visible!

In addition, this kit also comes with neck parts for the plastic kit "Great Exkaiser" (sold separately). You can update the pose of the Great Exhauser.

Since it is for agitation, the neck will be longer when viewed from a normal angle. Please note.

Great Combination to Great Burn Gahn!

Next, we introduce the Great Barn Gurn. This is the main body of Burn Gaan and a set of Great Parts with Mach Phoenix transformed. The wrist comes with the same shape as Burn Gaan, but in a different color.

The legs replace part of the shins and ankles.

Shoulders are huge with some parts replaced.

Forearms are replaced entirely. For the chest, parts of both sides of the dragon are removed and parts of Mach Phoenix are combined. The body is divided into several blocks, making it easy to combine.

Replace the head ornament.

Replace part of the backpack, change the wing angle and combine the Mach Phoenix wings to the base of the wings.

SE "Kung! Kung! Kung! Kung! Kung!"

So the Great Barn Gurn is completed! What a volume!

The image has changed dramatically with the addition of red and yellow parts.

The basic part of the head remains the same, only the forehead ornament has been replaced. The parts division here is also excellent.

The emblem of the bird's face on the chest is also beautifully divided, including clear parts. The arms are movable to some extent so that they do not interfere with the movement of the arms.

The ankles are combined with the magnificent clogs. The ankles have been replaced with Great's ankles. The shin parts are gorgeous.

The nose of the Mach Phoenix is attached to the backpack. The wings have been intensely enlarged.

The white blocks on the heels can be moved backward.

The kick from this huge body looks quite heavy.

The Great Barn Gaan can also have twin blades and dual lancers.

Since the chest parts are movable, both arms can be held out in front even in this form.

The whole figure in the back.

How do you like the volume? It's so cool, I can't help but smile!

The forearms also bend a little in the middle, so you can see a powerful standing figure.

The weight is surprisingly light, so I was able to display it on the New Flying Base without any difficulty.

Gold paint is added for an extra touch!

This time, I painted the yellow parts gold (Gaianotes Eldoran Gold).

I painted it a slightly brighter gold than the color of the molding. I think this alone has added a slightly more luxurious look.

There are various types of gold available, so you can choose the color you like best.

And the Great Barn Gurn has this gorgeous look!

The effect is great because of the large yellow area on the wing and chest panels.

This makes me want to build both forms of Burn Gaan and Great Burn Gaan side by side.

So, how did you like Great Burn Gaan?

Incidentally, Great Burn Gaan has a "Full Weapon" form, a "Hyper Burn Gaan" form, the traditional golden form of the hero, and even a Dark Great Burn Gaan form.

How far will Kotobukiya go? We have high expectations. I am also looking forward to hearing more about the kit version of the Yusha Robo.

See you soon!
