February 2018 - The 13th Annual Pin Mic Accessory / Kitan Club

Attach a microphone to your chest and you instantly feel like a celebrity! This playful gadget made me laugh. It had no microphone function at all.

I was a fan of the quiz show "Super Adversary Quiz Battle! (Fuji TV affiliate), the sound staff warned me in real life, "Please take that (pin microphone accessory) off, it interferes with the microphone.

August 2018 19th Dangomushi / Bandai

We were one of the first to feature this gacha, which was a hot topic at the time. All the parts are molded from different parts. That's why it rounds properly. I was astonished by the well-calculated design. This was the start of the mass production of real insect gachas. The "praying mantis" that followed was also amazing! The sheer number of moving parts was breathtaking. It was also around this time that the term "capsule rest toy" was introduced.

October 2019 No. 33 Onigiringu/Kitan Club

This ring kicked off the era of the ring warring states. It was also revolutionary in that the capsule itself was an onigiri. When you pop it open like a ring case, you see a kawaii ring in the middle! A closer look reveals the ingredients! The one that looked the most like jewelry was the salmon roe, but I couldn't resist the wrinkled texture of the pickled plums! The most humble was the kelp. The black ring with sesame seeds on it was a little too much.

If there is a "~ring" at the end, a pun ring is always made. It's a very gacha-like world.

Feb. 2020 No.37 Bus Get-Off Button Light Mascot / Toys Spirits

This one has also become a big boom. It is a gem that honestly fulfilled my urge to press it at least once. At the time of its release, this capsule vending machine was installed in Tachikawa buses in the Tama area of Tokyo, a very rare collaboration. I didn't think gacha would ever become so civilized.

July 2020 - Episode 41: Cat Pen Okiki / Qualia

Adorable cat figures are also a big hit. The way it twists its hips and lifts something is just like a scene from the opening of a national cartoon. Perhaps it is embedded in the DNA of the Japanese people, but it is amazing that this figure was accepted without any sense of discomfort! It has become a long-selling cat, with the series continuing to this day.

June 2021 No.52 Citcheon BGM Button / J. Dream

I have been familiar with many gachas that allow you to enjoy "sound" by pressing a button, and this one is a great one that plays the full-length intro to TM NETWORK's "GET WILD". At the time, the phrase "Get Wild Retirement" was all over SNS, and when I took off my suit after work and unbuttoned one button on my shirt, if the intro to "GET WILD" came on, I automatically transformed into Ryo Saeba in my brain! We had a lot of fun with that story. It was a button that instantly made me "smile" and "chuckle".

April 2022 No.62 Origami Folded by a Gal / Brightlink

On the base paper, there is a close-up of a doe-eyed gal and a messy origami paper at ....... They say these are origami cranes. The fact that such a garbage thing was sold is first of all a choberig~. Later, when I found out that it was an old man at the factory who was making them, I lost all my enthusiasm (laugh).

May 2022 No.63 Who the hell is this?

This was amazing. This gacha was initially available in some areas of the Kanto region, but it was quickly rolled out nationwide! A capsule contained a photo of a stranger, and I had no idea how to use it. It was a mysterious item, as if I had been tricked by a fox. If you look at the back of the capsule, you can even see the "F●JI Color" logo.

At the time this gacha went on sale, we were in the middle of the Corona disaster, and everyone I met was wearing a mask. Maybe it was refreshing to see the real face of a stranger who didn't know who he or she was. No, perhaps they rather wanted it. For some reason, pictures of my uncle were popular among high school girls. I still wonder about that excitement.

September 2022 - The 67th Animarie Collection 1/1 Funkorogashi / Studio Sota

Through this gacha, I have become friends with the president of Sota, whom I have met often. Thank you very much for giving us an interview, appearing on Youtube, and inviting us to dinner. It was very exciting to hear that you made the prototype from a 100-year-old specimen because you could not order a real dung beetle! To be honest, the modeling of the feces was so realistic that I wondered if this was actually what you wanted to make. I thought, "Actually, I wanted to make this one more. Some people asked me, "Why did you pick this one up when there are other mysterious creature figures out there?" I felt the mystique (?) of creativity in such a situation. May 2023 The 75th Candy Character Mascot / Ken Elephant

Thank you very much for everything you have done for us, KenElephant. In fact, even for the times we did not cover in this article, you graciously sent us toys, and we were grateful every time for your generosity. I still have those toys displayed at home.

All of Ken-Elephant's figures are of high quality, and every time I was impressed by how carefully they were made. Especially, I was so excited that I peed my pants when I saw this gacha figure, because the theme of this gacha was the candy I have been familiar with since I was a child. The reproduction of the salmon roe, it's amazing. If you remove the lid of the lip, you will find a heaping portion of salmon roe inside. Only an alien would come up with such an idea! I had thought that I would continue to attack it with my unique sensibility and feature it in this column. Too bad!
