The Akiba Research Institute held an official poll from August 14 to 28, 2024, titled "Which song is your favorite? Here are the results.

Broadcasting and distribution of the summer cool anime of 2024 has entered the second half of the year! As the anime is getting more and more exciting, anime songs are also attracting a lot of attention in various fields. Let's take a look back at the results of "2024 Summer Anime Theme Song Popularity Poll," the last official voting project of Akiba Research Institute.

While many notable anime songs were released this season, including masterpieces, stray songs, and topical songs, to our surprise, the OP and ED of "Shikanokotsukomi" made a one-two finish.

The top song was the ED "GAME OVER" by singer-songwriter Isei. The song is very stylish, with a chiptune-like beginning that develops into a dark worldview, while the tune is danceable.

In second place is the OP "Emperor Time" by Bebarash. Both the OP and the ED were powerful songs that seemed to symbolize the power of the work.

The song that closely followed the top two was "ATRI -My Dear Moments-" ED "Between YES and NO," sung by 22/7. The call and groove of "Yoshi Ikuyo! before the chorus and the groove of the song make it a song that would look great at a live performance. I think this song will become a standard song at ani-song events and ani clubs in the future.

and the groovy song swept the Top 3.

In contrast, "NieR: Automata Ver1.1a (2nd Cool)" ED "Ashi to Prayer" at No. 4 is a serene song that seems to be the sound of the world of "NieR: Automata" as it is. Her voice, which even sounds sacred, is a must-listen.

Fifth place went to Hikari Kodama singing "Charge! (season 2)," sung by Hikari Kodama. It is a cute elepop tune that matches the OP video of the heroines dancing. You will want to listen to this song over and over again in combination with the video.

The sixth place goes to "The Battle" by Mamoru Miyano. As the OP of the short anime "Gendai Misinterpretation," only the chorus is shown in the anime, but the full-size official music video is also available on YouTube. If you listen to it through, you will realize that it is the coolest R&B number. Please check it out as well.

Seventh place went to "Tsuyogaru Girl feat. Mokusa (Nekkritalky)," featuring Nekkritalky vocalist Mokusa, by Bocchi Boromaru, who has produced several of this season's most talked-about songs. There are too many losing heroines!" The more you listen to this song, which is played as the OP, the more fun it becomes, with its gorgeous brass and groovy guitar backing!

No. 8 "Future mastermind villainous daughter Moriarty's Isekai perfect crime white paper" OP "Emotional Revolution Rock 'n' Roll" is another upper band number. After all, the guttural guitar sound is cool without question!

No. 9 was "Hazure," an OP of "Until I, who became the strongest by [abnormal state skill] in the Hazure frame, laid waste to everything," by Cho Gakusei. The lyrics and music were written by the powerful tag team of Yuki Tsujimura and Takuya Yamanaka (THE ORAL CIGARETTES). Hats off to the skill of the super-student who sang it with aplomb.

Two songs tied for 10th place on the list.

One is "Aquarium Swing" by Kitri, an ED song for "Gisii Seikatsu" (Life of a Step-Sister). The lyrical worldview of the song fits perfectly with the image of the work, and I am sure I am not the only one who feels a strong emotion whenever I hear it.

The other is "Shikano no kono koko shittan tan," which can be said to be the eye of this season's typhoon. The ED theme is "Shika Senbei no Uta" (Song of Deer Crackers). This song is sung solely about deer crackers. In the video, the process of making deer crackers is shown in detail with live-action images. Is this really ani ED? By the way, the OP "Shika-iro Days," the latest mode of radio wave songs, came in at No. 22. This is another unforgettable song.
