Voting begins for BL Awards 2019, a general election for commercial BL, a celebration of rotten women!

On January 25, 2019, the "BL Award 2019" nominees were announced and voting started at the same time.

On January 25, 2019, the nominees for the "BL Award 2019" were announced on Chiruchiru ( # ), a BL information site operated by Sandias Co.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the BL Awards, an event that determines the most supported commercial BL of the previous year.

The year 2018 was a year in which the broad base of boys' love was recognized, with BL works being adapted into anime and the TV drama "Ossan's Love," which focuses on male-on-male romance, becoming a huge hit.

In the commercial BL manga genre as well, a wide variety of works that cannot be summed up in one word "boys' love" were created and supported by fans.
The BL Awards invites users to vote for such profound commercial BL works in several genres, including comics, novels, newcomers, and design.

Last year, more than 5,000 users cast their votes, and the total text volume of comments in support of teachers exceeded 690,000 characters!
Up until now, such masterpieces as "Tsuriru Tori ha Habatanai" (Taiyo Publishing Co., Ltd., Yonedako) and "Ten Count" (Shinshokan Co., Ltd., Rito Takarai) have won the Grand Prize.

There were more than 1,600 paper BL books released in 2018, including comics and novels! From these, approximately 300 books were nominated by genre.
On Friday, April 12, when the results are announced, the "BL Award Fair" will be held at bookstores and e-book stores nationwide. In addition, a commemorative event will be held to celebrate the 10th anniversary this year.

In recent years, the number of BL works published in comics has grown remarkably, with 1,200 BL manga (excluding e-comics) published in book form in 2018. This is a total of 100 commercial BL books per month in bookstores, even though it is a specialized genre. From this number, 300 books will be selected as nominees, and the general readers will vote for their favorites. Then, on April 12, the most popular BL work will be decided.

The BL Awards are not voted on by intellectuals, and all scores are added by users' votes and review submissions. Many of the users are avid BL fans who review hundreds of books a year.
They compare many of the works they have purchased, and then vote for the most enthusiastic selectors.
Last year, more than 5,000 members voted for works, and a huge volume of comments were sent to the site, totaling more than 690,000 characters.
The passionate comments sent by users each year are compiled by publisher and delivered to BL authors, who are encouraged by the comments.

The BL Awards are not limited to books, but also cover BL-related genres such as BLCDs, voice actors, and anime.

The BL Award 2019 voting has begun, with plenty of love for boys' love works.
The deadline is February 11, and the results will be announced on April 12, so be sure to check back and cast your vote.
