Red Dead Online Update Arrives! Improved matchmaking in the battle royale mode "Gunrush".

Rockstar Games has released updated information on "Red Dead Online," the online mode (currently in beta testing) for the PS4/Xbox One game "Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2" is the sequel to the open-world action adventure "Red Dead Redemption" set in frontier America. Players take on the role of Arthur Morgan, a member of the Dutch gang, and must survive in a world of outlaws.

The game takes place in the United States in 1899, as the pioneer era is coming to an end. Arthur Morgan and the Dutch Gang are forced to flee after a major robbery gone wrong in the western town of Blackwater. Pursued by federal agents and bounty hunters from all over the country, the gang's only way to survive is to rob, violate, and steal in the wilds of America, but the more involved they get in the struggle, the more they are in danger of being torn apart. Arthur is forced to choose between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang that raised him.

The beta test of "Red Dead Online," the online mode of the game, is currently underway, and we have received feedback on the "Gun Rush" mode and information on improvements to matchmaking.

■"Gun Rush" feedback and matchmaking improvements
After the launch of the newly implemented "Gun Rush" mode, we identified several issues with matchmaking. Some of these improvements have been addressed in the short term. And we will continue to work on making them more relevant and permanent fixes in the long term. These minor improvements should help create a more well-rounded lobby. We also plan to add more fixes in future title updates. Gun Rush is a fun mode that is best maximized when you have as many opponents as possible, and we are working hard to make this mode as fun as possible." If you ran into problems in the smaller lobbies last week, we encourage you to try it again this weekend, as we have seen many times that the matches are more fulfilling on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

For those of you who haven't tried it yet, "Gun Rush" is a western-style battle royale where you fight by all means possible, with up to 32 players fighting to the death. You can participate in this mode as a team or individually. Players compete in a shrinking battle area. Utilizing horses allows for quicker movement, but comes with its own risks. Players can use a variety of weapons from Mauser pistols to repeating shotguns, flaming bottles, and dynamite arrows to fight their way through the battle. Valuable and hard-to-find armor, such as Ned Kelly's Armor, which protects you from headshots, will also help you survive to the end.

We have also updated the official feedback page to include a special section for Gunrush. We welcome your comments and suggestions regarding the improvements and changes we have made. We also continue to welcome your feedback on other modes and types of gameplay!

■More updates to come!
The team is currently working on numerous fixes, changes, and improvements based on feedback from our players to make the game more enjoyable to play. For more information, please see the latest status update: player icons are now only visible at close range, and access to the fights is faster than before. Changes to peace negotiations, new relationships between bounty hunters and villains, updates to law enforcement officers and bounty hunters to prevent harassing behavior, plus the chance to win gold (lumps) rewards in the "challenge of the day". The team is currently planning to include the above and other improvements in a title update scheduled for release in the coming months, so we hope to have more information to share with you as the update date approaches!
