A grand and reckless new project has begun! The "Shadowverse" life to start just now. The final goal is to achieve a prize in an official tournament! Starting Now Shadowverse

Shadowverse is a popular game title from Cygames. This highly strategic and authentic card battle game has attracted many players, and in 2018, a professional league was launched in Japan. The momentum continues to spread beyond national borders, with players from the United States, France, China, and other countries gathering for a world tournament.

Start from scratch and aim for a prize in official tournaments!

The prize money for winning the "Shadowverse" World Tournament is a whopping $1,000,000!

This is a very large scale championship that is attracting a lot of attention.

The "Shadowverse World Grand Prix 2019" is scheduled to be held in 2019. The "RAGE Shadowverse 2019 SPRING" will be held from February 2, 2019, for the right to participate in the event. The cold winter weather is no excuse for the exciting battle of Atuki!

Shadowverse was released in 2016. More than two years have passed since then,
The purpose of this project is to recklessly start from scratch and aim to win prizes at official tournaments
!

The rule I set for myself in proceeding with this project is to "not look at strategy sites".

Of course, it is not a bad thing to refer to the procedures that other people have thought of. Rather, I believe that diligence in improving one's skills is to be commended, but in this project, I want to grow together with the readers through the knowledge I gain from actually playing the games and watching the competitions.

It is not a question of whether or not you can do it, but whether or not you will do it, and I hope you will watch the trajectory of my pride as a game writer for the sake of money! And I hope that this project will inspire you to play along.

Let's all start here! Understanding the gameplay of "Shadowverse!

First and foremost, you need to understand the gameplay of "Shadowverse. If you don't have this understanding, you can't move forward. Here, we will introduce the game to those who have never played "Shadowverse" before.

■Card Types

Let's start with the types of cards. There are three main types of cards in this game: Followers, Spells, and Amulets.

Followers

Followers are like monster cards. However, they cannot attack on the turn they are placed on the field.

Spells

Spell" is a magic card. They can draw additional cards, strengthen allied followers, etc. Each card has its own unique effect.

○ "Amulet

Amulets are also magic cards. Spells are sent to the graveyard immediately after they are used, while Amulets continue to appear in the field after they are used.

However, if the Amulet card has a countdown, it will be sent to the graveyard when the number reaches zero.

With these cards organized, the player constructs a deck (basically with 40 cards in total). In battle, the player uses his or her deck to win the game.

■Basic Flow of Battle

The actual flow of a battle is as follows.

First and second attackers are decided at random.

↓↓.

2. First, each side draws 3 cards. Any number of cards can be exchanged among them. (You do not have to exchange cards.) ↓ 3.

↓ ↓

3. The first player draws one more card and chooses to play within the number of play points (PP) that are expended to play the card.

PP is indicated just below the deck and the maximum value is +1 as the turn progresses; PP is used and fully recovered on the next turn. (For example, a card with cost 4 cannot be used in turn 3, but can be used in the next turn 4.)

4. After selecting play, press End Turn.

■Explanation of the game screen

Draw a card, choose an action - this process is repeated in "Shadowverse".

Let's continue with the game screens to explain how you can win the game.

(1): Your field. You can place up to 5 cards on the board.

(2): A card of a follower you have played. The number on the lower left is the attack value, and the number on the lower right is the strength value. If you attack (or are attacked by) an enemy follower, your Strength value is reduced by the amount of the attack value written on the opponent's follower card. If it falls below zero, it is destroyed.

③: Numbers related to the unique abilities of the card, such as "Vengeance" or "Spell Boost" are written on the card.

④: Number of cards in hand.

⑤: The number of turns until a follower can be evolved. You can evolve a follower up to 2 times for the first attack and 3 times for the second attack, and the more it evolves, the more powerful the card becomes. (The parameters after evolution are listed on each card.)

(6): The strength of the "leader". The leader is a kind of alter ego of the player, and the first player to reduce its value to zero wins the game. Note that the leader may have unique abilities.

⑦: Play points (PP).

The above is a simplified explanation of the battle screen. The front side is your army's position and the back side is your opponent's position.

The most important factor in the above is the strength of the leader (6).

The leader, so to speak, is the player himself. The first player to reduce the leader's health to zero wins the battle by attacking directly with followers and inflicting damage with spells and amulets.

Incidentally, there are a total of eight types of leaders available. When you are organizing a deck, you must first choose who will be the leader. For example, cards of the "Elf" class must have Alisa as their leader, and cards of the "Witch" class must have Isabel as their leader in order to be included in the deck.

When you get a strong card, its class is also very important. For example, a card with the Spell Boost skill is of the "Witch" class (Isabelle is the leader), and a card with the Vengeance skill is of the "Vampire" class (Julius is the leader), so you can't just put any card you want in one deck.

Some of the classes are called "neutral" and can be used by all leaders.

The official tournament rules basically require the use of two or more classes.

In this first installment, we introduced the basic rules of the game.

In the next article, I will go a little more into the performance of the cards and explore ways to improve your level as a player. The long road to enjoy "Shadowverse" at 120%, and even win the prize money, has only just begun!
