The completion announcement preview report of the movie "City Hunter the Movie <新宿プライベート・アイズ>" has arrived! Akira Kamiya, Yoshimi Tokui, Marie Iide, and others took the stage!

On January 29, 2019, the completion preview of "City Hunter the Movie <Shinjuku Private Eyes>" was held at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku.

The film is a hard-boiled and sometimes comical depiction of the activities of two men: City Hunter, Saeba Akira, who takes on various requests in Shinjuku and fights against evil that cannot be judged by law, and his partner, Makimura Kaoru, who sometimes "fights off" Akira's attempts to harm his client, but also supports him as a partner in his work. The film is a hard-boiled, sometimes comical work by Tsukasa Hojo. The original story was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1985, and in 1987, a TV animation series produced by Sunrise began airing. 140 episodes, 3 specials, and 3 movie versions of the series have made it a huge hit.

Such a "legend" of the manga world, "City Hunter," will be revived for the first time in 20 years as a feature-length animated film, "City Hunter the Movie: Shinjuku Private Eyes! The film is scheduled to be released on February 8, 2019.

Prior to its release, a completion announcement preview was held at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku on January 29, 2019. Akira Kamiya, Kazue Ikura, Shunsui Ichiryuusai, Mami Koyama, and guest voice actors Marie Iide, Yoshimi Tokui of Tutorial, General Director Kodama, and Tsukasa Hojo, the original author, took the stage to greet the audience.

Tokui-san appeared with a bubbly companion next to him, dressed in a Saeba-nobutsu costume. He shouted "Mokkori-chan! which is also Saeba's signature line.
Iide-san then shouted, "Don't you read the atmosphere of the event? and then she reproduced the familiar scene from City Hunter, swinging a 100-ton balloon hammer down on the audience. The audience was thrilled.

Mr. Kamiya also made a City Hunter-like greeting to the audience, "I hope you enjoy the "Mokkori" until the end of the event! Mr. Kamiya also enlivened the audience with his typical City Hunter greeting, "I hope you will enjoy 'Mokkori' to the end!" Mr. Hojo, the author of the original novel, followed suit by saying, "I made you wait. Fans in the audience gave a warm round of applause.

Kamiya commented on the revival of the old characters, "I received the offer at the end of October of the year before last, and I was surprised, happy, and anxious about whether I would be able to express them in the voices I used back then. Still, my happiness won out and I spent a year working on my voice from there! He commented.
When asked by the moderator about the secret of keeping her voice young, she replied, "The audience is young, so I keep my voice young by being pulled along by them. I get the "mokkori" extract (laughs)," he said, referring to the characteristics of the characters.

Kamiya also commented on Iide, the guest voice actress for this production, saying, "She was full of the sensitivity and naivete of a 21-year-old, and the cuteness that she possesses. Her acting was also outstanding." Ikura and Koyama also praised her performance.
Ms. Tokui's performance was also praised, saying, "If we played such roles, we would overdo it, so her performance was realistic and just right in a good way.

Guest voice actress Iide said, "My mother is a big fan of City Hunter! I was able to show my filial piety!" I was able to be a good father to her!" commented Iide. She expressed her joy at being able to participate in a work that is loved by people of all ages.
When asked by the host how he felt about his first challenge as a voice actor, he replied, "It was a lot of fun, but I thought I could do the voice while watching the animation, but during the postrecording, I saw the video just as it was in the storyboard! I thought, "That was a lot of fun, but I thought I could do the voices while watching the animation. I thought there must have been some kind of trouble (laughs). Tokui continued, "I wondered if it was just me. I wondered if I was the only one like this (laughs).

In response to this exchange, Mr. Kamiya said, "When I do it in that state, they match my mouth movements to the dialogue afterwards. If I make a good play, though (laughs). (Laughs) But if the picture is finished, you have to match it, so it's a lot of work.

When asked if he and Saeba have anything in common in terms of their love for women, Tokui replied, "It's so cool that he loves women! I learned that from Akira Saeba. I learned from Saeba that it's okay to express my desires in such a straightforward manner (laughs). So it is Hojo-sensei's fault for creating a monster like me (laughs)," he told the audience.
When asked by the moderator about his approach to wooing women, he replied, "What I learned from Saeba Akira is to be straightforward, so if I show my moxie in a straightforward manner..." But then Iide gave him the cold shoulder. However, Iide gave him a cold look, and he couldn't resist adding, "Marie-chan's gaze hurts me.

When asked about his thoughts when he received the offer to direct the film, General Director Kodama replied, "As in Kaoru's line, 'Don't you read the air of the times~! I was worried about it, as you can see in Shang's line, "Don't you read the atmosphere of the times! But if you take out the "mokkori" from Yu, there is nothing left (laughs). I took on the role with the feeling that "Mokkori" is still applicable in this day and age, and I'll make it work! I took on the role with the feeling that "mokkolli" would work even in this day and age. The audience applauded loudly.

Finally, Mr. Kamiya commented, "The City Hunter of that era has slid into the modern era without any sense of incongruity. I believe that fans of City Hunter, fans of each character, and fans of the music will all be satisfied! I hope you will enjoy this work to the end," he concluded, bringing the event to a successful conclusion.
