The "Valentine Project! BL Anime Popularity Poll" started on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2019, and the ranking progress reported on February 26, just two days before the deadline, as of 14:00, "Haru Hug" in first place with 4165 votes, "Dakuichi" in second place with 1783 votes, and "Winter Cicada" coming up to third place with However, the vote shifted even further, and by 8:00 p.m., "Haru-hagari" had received 4182 votes, "Fuyu-no-Semi" was in second place with 1852 votes, and "Dakaichi" was in third place with 1829 votes, a very close margin.

From there, all of the top three titles continued to increase their number of votes until the close of voting, resulting in a one-two finish with "Haru wo Hagitateita" in first place and its derivative, "Fuyu no Cicada" in second place.
The "I'm threatened by the man I want to be hugged No. 1," which took first place at the start of the voting and continued to receive a stable number of votes throughout the rest of the day which was ranked third in the poll, although it narrowly missed out on the first and second places due to the surge of two "Haru-hugging" related works, and, since it has just been adapted into an anime in October 2018, it finished in the Top 3, far ahead of the third-place finisher.

The fourth-place finisher was the classic "Doukyusei," followed by the popular series "Sekaiichi Hatsukoi" in fifth place, while "Papa Dare Datte, Shitai," or "Papa Shitashi," which has become a hot topic in many ways, took sixth place, "Yarichin Bitch Club" was seventh, and "Super Lovers" came in tenth place, rounding out the top ten with recent works.

It is also impressive that three works related to Shungiku Nakamura were ranked in the top three: "World's First Love" in 5th place, "World's First Love the Movie: Takashi Yokozawa's Case" in 8th place, and "Junjo Romantica" in 9th place. Did the split of the titles divide the votes, or would this ranking have had a different result if the series had been lumped together? ...... When the BL anime ranking poll is held again, I would like to see the ranking grouped by related works and authors.

Of the top 10, only three OVAs, "Haru wo Hataiteita", "Fuyu no Semi", and "Yarichin Bitch Club", are in the top 10. It can be said that TV anime, which can be viewed easily, and theater versions, which have become more common since the number of BL anime productions has increased, are stronger in terms of the number of viewers.

In this poll, where such results can be glimpsed, the fact that "Haru Hug," whose OVA was released in 2005, took first place is deeply moving.
Who would have thought that "Haru-hugging," which was ranked 26th with 5 votes on February 15, one day after the poll began, and "Fuyu no semi," which was ranked 33rd with 3 votes, would overturn their rankings in two weeks? The way these two titles gradually gained votes and rose in the rankings was just like the success stories of the main characters in the works.

BL anime is really good, isn't it?
