Fuji Television's Anime Lineup Presentation 2019" was held at Fuji Television's headquarters on March 14, 2019.
The event featured new information on Fuji Television's anime slots "Noitamina" and "+ULTRA," as well as new movie productions, and guest talks by the voice actors who appear in the series.
The event was broadcast on Nico Nico Douga, Twitter, and YouTube, where a 360° virtual space was combined with a video of the stage to be simultaneously broadcast.
Targeting the world. What is the new animation released by "+ULTRA"?
In the first part, "+ULTRA," an anime slot that broadcasts anime with an eye on foreign countries, introduced the January-court work "revision" and guest talked about the April-court work "Carol & Tuesday," followed by the announcement of new "+ULTRA" information.
First of all, a video comment by Koki Uchiyama, who plays the main character Daisuke Dojima, was introduced from "revision Revisions," which is currently being broadcasted, and which is now entering the storyline. Daisuke, who has a self-righteous attitude that is rare in recent anime, confessed that he had been instructed by sound director Hitoshi Akutagawa during recording to act with "not enough killing intent. In response to this order, Uchiyama revealed that he found the acting challenging, saying, "I was at full throttle from the very beginning, so it was a pleasant feeling," and "It was fun to learn more and more about Daisuke's character and to come up with more and more ideas.
Next, "Carol & Tuesday" was introduced, scheduled to start airing on April 10. Miyuri Shimabukuro (Carol), Kana Ichinose (Tuesday), and Sumire Uesaka (Angela) took the stage. They talked about the film.
This work depicts two girls who aim to become musicians in a world where humans have migrated to Mars and AI is creating a culture.
Uesaka expressed her impression of the work, saying, "The atmosphere of the work is sparkling," and cast information for the characters appearing in the first episode was also announced here. The roles of Angela's manager Daria will be played by Keno Horiuchi, Tuesday's mother Valerie by Tomoko Miyadera, and Tuesday's brother Spencer by Takahiro Sakurai.
Shinichiro Watanabe, known for his work on "Cowboy Bebop," will be the director and sound director for the film. Speaking about the recording sessions, Shimabukuro said, "We had a lot of fun and were very nervous during the recording. The director also came to the booth and asked how the cast was doing, which was very kind. The director communicates with the cast members, so it's easy for us to ask about their performances and characters.
One of the highlights of the film is the music. It was announced that Nai Br.XX and Celeina Ann, who were chosen through a worldwide audition, will be in charge of Carol's and Tuesday's vocal parts, respectively.
Starting on March 14, a series of three making-of featurettes on the production of the film will be broadcasted, so be sure to check them out as well.
Finally, the future broadcast lineup was announced.
First, "BEASTARS" (original story by Tomoe Itagaki), currently serialized in "Weekly Shonen Champion" (Akita Shoten), was announced as a work scheduled for broadcast in October. Animation production is by Orange. In the latest PV released to the public, CG images that could be mistaken for cel animation could be seen.

In the second part, PVs of the films were screened. In addition to the latest works by masters such as "Birthday Wonderland" directed by Keiichi Hara and "Kimi to, Nami no Norareta" directed by Masaaki Yuasa, the highly anticipated new works such as "Saenai Kanojo no Nutsukata Fine" which has been adapted to TV animation twice and finally reached the conclusion of the series were shown all at once.
In the third part, "Noitamina," which has been releasing ambitious anime works every season, introduced "Yakusoku no Neverland," a January-cool work, and guest talked about "Sarazanmai," an April-cool work, and revealed new information.
First of all, comments from the cast of "Yakusoku no Neverland," which has reached the climax of its broadcast, were released.
Sumire Moroboshi (Emma), Mare Uchida (Norman), and Mariya Ise (Rei) enlivened the audience with their comments on the memories of each character and their expectations for the climax of the show.
Next, "Sarazanmai," scheduled to begin airing in April, was introduced. This is a new work by Kunihiko Ikuhara, director of "Revolutionary Girl Utena," "Ring Ping Drum," "Urikuma Arashi," and other works, and as such it has attracted a great deal of attention.
Here, Shun Horie, who plays the role of one of the main characters, Jintai Kenta, took the stage and talked about the appeal of this work.
Mr. Horie, who said, "I myself like director Ikuhara's works and have watched his films," was inquisitive at the beginning. He said that he was worried that "one small word could be a spoiler. The anime is sure to be a hit with anime fans who like to think about the little things that become important foreshadowing.
Also on stage, the ending theme will be "Stand By Me" sung by the girls' band the peggies. It was also announced that the program will start airing on April 11 at 24:55.
In addition, a new work "Given," which will air in July 2019, was also announced. This is Noitamina's first anime adaptation of a BL comic and will be produced by Studio Larke. We are looking forward to seeing this one as well.
PSYCHO-PASS 3" and the theater version of "Kabaneri" are also highly anticipated sequels!
Next, "PSYCHO-PASS 3" will be introduced. Here, Hiroki Kaji, who plays Arata Shindo, and Yuichi Nakamura, who plays Kei Jion, Mikhail Ignatov, took the stage. They talked about "3," which is still full of mysteries.
Postrecording has already begun, and Mr. Nakamura commented, "There is a direction based on the previous stories, and the co-stars (who appeared in past productions) say things like 'this is how it happened' and 'that is how it happened,' which is interesting to watch from the edge.
As for appearing as a new character, Kaji commented, "I played a different character in the game version, and I liked the atmosphere of the work from that time. Since I had already played the role in the game, I thought it would be quite difficult to appear in "3," so I am very happy." Mr. Nakamura said, "I have never had the opportunity to come into contact with the work before, and I happened to watch the on-air broadcasts or see it on distribution. Nakamura said, "I had never had a chance to see the work before, but I just happened to watch it on-air or on a TV program." Nakamura added, "In terms of the worldview of the work, there is an interesting swamp waiting for us, which we love, so I was hoping to get involved somehow.
The new PV, which was shown for the first time, also revealed that the show will start airing in October 2019, and a vocal song that was unveiled for the first time. Both Mr. Kaji and Mr. Nakamura were told by the staff that they "can't tell you about this song yet," so we can expect more news.
In closing, he said, "The image of Noitamina is that it is a slot for taking on challenges. There is still some secret information that we are trying out, so please wait for it" (Mr. Kaji) and "This is a work that takes on new challenges. There are still some hidden gems that will surprise you, and we will probably make an announcement in the near future" (Nakamura).
The final part of the event was a talk stage about the movie "Kabaneri of the Iron Castle: Kaimon Kessen" with the cast.
Tasuku Hatanaka, who plays Ikoma, and Ayaka Sembongi, who plays Mumei, took the stage to talk about the new film, which has been three years in the making since the TV series aired in 2016.
Ms. Hatanaka commented on the content, "Ikoma is moving like Ikoma." She also revealed that the characters were played twice, once for tentative postrecording and once for actual postrecording. Normally, the staff of a theatrical anime performs a tentative recording to check the overall length of the film, but this time, Hatanaka and Sengoku also participated in the tentative recording. This time, Hatanaka and Sengoku also participated in the tentative postrecording and brushed up on their performances before going into production. Based on the feedback from the tentative postrecording, the scenario was revised and some lines were changed in the production. Hatanaka commented, "It took a long time (for the postrecording). We started at 10:00 in the morning and stayed in the studio until the sun came up. This kind of passion is what 'Kabaneri' is all about.
After that, a new trailer was shown. It was also announced that the new character Kageyuki would be played by Shinichiro Miki.
The film will be shown in theaters for a limited two-week period on May 10, and will also be available on Netflix and Amazon prime video.
In closing, he said, "I was happy to be able to come back to the theater like this and see my friends from Steel Castle again, as it is a work that I have a lot of feelings for. The friends I got to see again have grown up one or two times and show me how cool they are. I'm sure they will show us something that will make our hearts tremble, so I hope you will watch the show.
The one-and-a-half-hour presentation came to a close.
With a lineup of topical, major, and ambitious works, it seems unlikely that we will be able to take our eyes off Fuji Television's new animated series this year.
