PS4 "EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: IRON RAIN" unveils EDF's signature combat vehicle!

D3 Publisher has released information on the combat beagle that will appear in "EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: IRON RAIN" for PS4, scheduled for release on Thursday, April 11.

EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: IRON RAIN" (EDF:IR) is the latest title in the EDF project, with a worldview distinct from that of the company's popular "Earth Defense Forces" action TPS series. Set on a devastated Earth, the game realistically depicts the EDF and its soldiers who continue to fight. The game was developed by Yuke's Inc. The theme music is by Takashi Aragaki and the creatures are designed by Ryu Oyama.

Information on the battle beagles that will appear in this work has now been released, so let us introduce them to you.

What is a combat beagle?
As powerful reinforcements for the EDF Mobile Infantry, a number of combat vehicles can be requested to be dropped. They are developed through constant trial and error against unprecedented enemies, rather than being the culmination of technology as anti-aggressor weapons. Therefore, not all of them are sophisticated, rather they are rather rugged and not all of them are easy to use. However, depending on how they are used, they are powerful weapons with tremendous capabilities that can completely change the war situation. Vehicles can be possessed as a separate category of item without affecting the number of weapons equipped (2 types). Vehicles can also be requested to be dropped on the battlefield regardless of the type of PA gear they are equipped with. Let us introduce some of the wonderful world of vehicles in this title.

Vehicle 1: Armored Fighting Vehicle
■Caddy
The first model of the "Serpent," an anti-aggressor armored fighting vehicle. It is the first human weapon developed not only as a vehicle but also for aggressors in all kinds of weapons. The development project was launched just two days after the Aggressor invasion. By giving up on introducing new technology and focusing only on expanding the know-how from the previous generation, the project was put into mass production six months later.

The Closer, dashing onto a caddy, and the 40 mm machine gun, which is not flashy but reliable.

It is generally called a "tank" because of its infinite orbit, but its main gun is a 40mm machine gun, and it does not have a howitzer, the symbol of a tank. Although it does not incorporate any innovative technology, it has outstanding stability due to its solid basic design, and even now, 12 years after its first introduction, it continues to be active in the front line with only minor modifications, such as the deposition of an alkane coating on its armor.

The front of the vehicle is equipped with a wyvern missile with guiding capability. The blast range is rather narrow.

Do not let your guard down just because you are riding in a vehicle. If you get too close to a Scorcher, the entire vehicle may be grabbed and crushed...

Vehicle②Tank Destroyer
Champ
This is the first unit of "Jormungandr," a tank for destroyer eradication against aggressors. It is a genuine "tank" that boldly refurbished the "Caddy," whose lack of offensive power began to be exposed by the Aggressor's new strength, and re-equipped it with a huge main gun that was once considered unnecessary.

The main gun is a 150 mm howitzer. The huge gun, a symbol of the tank, is highly accurate and its power is outstanding. The tank is also equipped with Fafnir breath on both sides of the vehicle, which is powerful when surrounded by giant creatures. Anything approaching the vehicle will be consumed by this fire!

It was rolled out from the EDF North American Arsenal (U.S.A.) in 2038, but the U.S. was subjected to the Aggressor's torrential attacks throughout its territory, and the manufacturing base for this machine was relocated to Canada just one year later. The "Champ," from which the name was derived, is a UMA that is said to live in Lake Champlain, which straddles the border between the U.S. and Canada.

The tank's appeal lies in its propulsive force, which can overcome any rough terrain. The tanks can fly over any obstacle and go right at it!

Vehicle ③ Attack Aircraft
Skyfish
This is the first model of the "Phoenix," an attack aircraft against the Aggressor. As its name suggests, it is a new type of aircraft that has been rebuilt from the ground up with a new flight mechanism to counter the Aggressor. Its main mission is to stay in the combat area and take direct cover of ground troops, just like the old attack helicopters.

By using Energy Core technology for lift, it can stay in the air like a helicopter even though it is an aircraft.

Older attack helicopters had sufficient firepower, but their armor was too fragile to engage in a "fistfight" with countless attack pods. The Phoenix, on the other hand, uses an energy core for lift, freeing it from fragile rotor blades and achieving unparalleled armor strength.

Two highly accurate beam machine guns are mounted on the nose of the aircraft.

It also acts as a bomber by dropping Fafnir grenades from its lower fuselage. Although it has a small loadout, it has tremendous offensive power.

Vehicle (4) Walking weapons
Bigfoot
The first model of the anti-armor walking weapon "Warmech," a bipedal weapon developed and operated before the advent of PA Gear as a standard-bearer for mankind against the aggressor. A prototype was launched in 2029, one year after the rollout of the anti-armored combat vehicle Serpent. However, it failed miserably. Although it had more robust armor and more powerful guns than the Serpent, it was not as maneuverable and could not stand up to the giant creatures without infantry cover (this was one of the factors that encouraged the development of the PA gear). Since then, it has undergone numerous updates and is now a walking tank that has deviated greatly from its original concept.

Bigfoot Marauder
The second model of the "War-Mech," an anti-rigging walking weapon, the state-of-the-art War-Mech was rolled out in 2039.

Both arms are equipped with beam piles with penetrating capabilities. It is a powerful weapon for close combat, or even combat. Both shoulders are equipped with Fafnir cannons with a large blast range. This too has a powerful destructive power.

As of 2040, it has been so highly acclaimed that its production could not keep up with deployment requests from various divisions. In this model, the state-of-the-art machine, the concept has finally reached the extreme north, and the arms are equipped with short-range laser beams that could be described as combat-use. It has become a decisive battle weapon that can engage in a fistfight with an aggressor, not figuratively speaking.

Then came the latest War Mech.
In one mission, a transport unit drops the latest War-Mech on the trapped Blast Platoon. After many twists and turns, the bipedal weapon is finally completed! Behold the ultimate War-Mech, loaded with man's romance and powerful armaments.
