To celebrate the release of this title, an official report from the "BLADE ARCUS Rebellion from Shining" release commemorative tournament held at Red Bull Gaming Sphere Tokyo on March 16 (Saturday) has arrived, so here it is.
Launch Commemorative Official Tournament Official Report
This tournament welcomed voice actress Asami Shimoda who plays Piron as a guest, Kamizono-san from Team Godsgarden as a play-by-play commentator, Sexy Saito-san as an MC, and Makoto Suzuki, the producer of "BLADE ARCUS Rebellion from Shining," as a commentator. Sexy Saito served as MC.
The tournament was held in a tournament format with 29 participants, and the quarterfinals and later rounds were broadcast live on the web as the finals. The eight winners of the fierce competition competed against each other to win the championship. In the quarterfinals, players who had participated in national tournaments showed their strength backed by their experience, and four players advanced to the semifinals: Pampina, Joshi Toilet, gamera, and Jankenman.
Semifinal Game 1: Pampina vs Women's Toilet
The first semifinal match featured two players with contrasting battle styles: the defensive Pampina and the aggressive Joshi Toilet. Pampina chose Ryuga, a player with a variety of techniques, and Women's Toilet chose Roselinde, a power fighter. Both players took advantage of the slightest opening in the game to land combos, and the battle was fierce.
Pampina changed her character to Sakuya and then back to Ryuga, but the onslaught by the Women's Toilet player left her in a tight spot with only one more move to lose the game. The game was now 2-2. In such a close game, Pampeena won the game by winning the battle of readings. The audience cheered and groaned.
Semifinal Game 2: gamera vs Jankenman
gamera chose the new character "Exela," which has a long reach and light body movement, while Jankenman chose "Rage," which specializes in wide-range attacks with a sword. The two players also fought fiercely in the final of the "BLADE ARCUS from Shining VER. 2.1EX" single game held at the "Toushin Festival 2017 1DAY Match Carnival. For Jankenman, the runner-up at the Toushin Festival, this was a revenge match.
Gamera, who showed great stability by recovering using his character skills, was unable to attack Jankenman. Jankenman, who was having trouble attacking, changed his character to Dylan, who boasts high firepower, and tried to find the right time to attack, but was unable to make his move as expected. In the end, gamera's breathless attack left him unable to gain revenge.
Final match: Pampina vs gamera
In the final match, which was played in two games, two players who had won the "BLADE ARCUS from Shining" series tournament clashed. Pampina expressed his enthusiasm for the final, saying, "It's been a while since I've been able to participate in a tournament this big, so I want to do my best," while gamera commented, "It's a new version, so I want to show my new character as an example to other players.
Pampina chose Ryuga, while gamera chose Excela. In round 1, Pampina took a solid win by inflicting damage without being rushed. The game heated up from this point on, with gamera attacking hard, taking 60% of the player's energy, and Pampina immediately returning the same amount of damage.
Gamera, who took the first game, showed overwhelming strength with his ability to respond to risks and his accuracy to strike without missing an opportunity. Pampina, on the other hand, changed her character to Sakuya and attacked boldly, but was defeated by gamera's strong defense. gamera won the first two games in a row to take the championship.
gamera won the tournament with his new character!
At the awards ceremony, Mr. Shimoda presented the trophy to the winner, gamera. As the audience cheered, gamera commented smilingly, "I'm happy because I was able to show that I have been playing both the new characters and the old ones.
As gamera showed his overwhelming strength throughout the tournament, Shimoda commented, "I wonder how strong he will become as he gets stronger and stronger each time he plays. I wish we could have a Gamera Cup," said Shimoda, who had high hopes for the event. Kamizono said, "The level of the competition was the same as the national competition. If you choose the characters you have been using, they will be strong, but I was very impressed by the players who won using new characters. I thought that the players who won using new characters were very impressive. That's how fast they can attack and how well they understand the game. There were many matches that were noteworthy from the preliminary rounds, with some players participating on the day of the tournament, and some non-experienced players actively participating.
Interview with the winner, gamera
--How do you feel now that you have won the tournament?
I am glad that I was able to show the results of my hard work, using new characters.
--It has only been two days since "BLADE ARCUS Rebellion from Shining" was released.
I was studying the hardness of new characters when they guarded, whether they could hit after this, and how far ahead they could move. Then I thought, 'This character is strong,' so I used him. I called my friends and practiced while thinking about what moves I could make to win.
--How much time did you spend practicing?
I took time off from work to practice, so I think about 20 hours.
--Did you get a good night's sleep before the tournament?
I am often told that I look sleepy, but I did sleep well. I try to get a good night's sleep before competitions. I usually stay up late, but my reaction speed is too different when I am sleeping and when I am not. I try to sleep at least seven hours if possible.
--I'm sure you had a hard time choosing a character skill, but how did you arrive at the recovery?
Even if you add an attack power increase, the maximum increase is 16%. In this game, strength is roughly 10,000, and even if you increase attack power, the damage will only increase to a maximum of 11,600. In contrast, heal heals 5,000. In this game, taking damage is not a bad thing, and the support gauge builds up, so if you include recovery for that, you arrive at the conclusion that heal is the way to go. Or, there is a skill called "lightning speed" that increases movement speed, and the only thing I had to worry about was whether to put this skill (or recovery) on. The only thing I had to worry about was which skill to put on (recovery or) this skill.
--Will there be a choice between recovery and lightning speed in the future?
If I am faster, it will be more difficult to control.
--Do you have any other skills that you think will grow in the future?
To be honest, the strength increase is not very useful at the moment. If there is, it would be something like a force gauge. This is the only skill that doesn't accumulate even if the player is attacked. Unlike the previous game, this time the force gauge doesn't accumulate very much. To compensate for this, you get it at the beginning. You get +120% force gauge at the start of the match, so there are too few gaps, and unless the opponent reads that as a single point, no matter what you do (damage), depending on the character. So now I think it's just heal, electric light, and force gauge up."
--What is the secret to staying calm and collected even when you take heavy damage or get knocked out in a round?
If I am always working until I feel like I am the strongest, even if I get taken out once, I can think, 'It was bad luck. If I am not unlucky, I can win. Anyway, it is practice. It's all about practice and ability.
