Voice actress Nana Mizuki held a special live concert "NANA MUSIC LABORATORY 2019 - NanaLabo" at Himegin Hall in Ehime Prefecture on March 23 (Sat). The daytime performance was also broadcast live viewing at 48 theaters nationwide, attracting approximately 12,000 people.

As the title suggests, the theme of this live performance was "Music Laboratory. The setlist consisted mainly of a one-on-one battle with each member of the backing band, Cherry Boys, and the audience was able to enjoy the chemical reaction of the sound created on the spot and the song arrangements that each member came up with for this concert. The day was filled with surprise guests and the announcement of a new single release.

The opening image of Mizuki in a white lab coat researching something in a sound laboratory began to play, and the audience was filled with excitement and tension to see what was about to start. Then, "NanaLab, let's get excited with all our might! Mizuki appeared on stage in a white coat-like costume. Mizuki opened the show with "Rock Ride Riot" while waving towels around with the audience! Sakamoto was playing light and lively sounds, but then he started making full use of his equipment, playing a loop of what he had recorded on the spot and producing guitar-like tones, which was exciting to watch. Mizuki responded to this with her one and only weapon, her singing voice, in a way that raised the level of anticipation for the songs to follow.

The second song was "Trickster" with guitarist Kenji Kitajima. The powerful tone of the guitar and his superb playing made the audience look at his hands as if they were devouring the song, but Mizuki was not to be outdone. Then, Daisuke Kadowaki played the violin on "Labyrinth Butterfly -diverse-" with beautiful and delicate tones from low to high. Mizuki's singing voice and facial expressions combined to create a bewitching atmosphere in no time. The fourth song was by guitarist Tadasu Watanabe. The song "STAND UP!" started with a rounded sound and impressive phrases. During the break, the two guitarists encouraged the audience to join in, and the warm atmosphere they created brought smiles to the faces of the audience.

I'm home! I'm here in Ehime! I hope everyone at the live viewing venue is having a great time! I wanted to make the most of the space of the 5-story hall, so I decided to make the most of it and decided that the only way to do it was to have a tie-up! He expressed his enthusiasm for this live performance.

The fifth song was "Miracle☆Flight" with the four string players who had appeared so far. The song was arranged in a country style, and the audience shouted out cheerful songs, as if they were at a theme park.
After hearing from each of the four about the key points of the arrangement and their impressions of the performance, the mood took another turn as they said, "The experimentation continues. The mood changed again with "MARIA&JOKER" accompanied by the sexy tone of Masahiro Fujioka's alto saxophone. The passionate and trembling tone, the lustrous singing voice with vibrato, and even their breathing could be heard, immersing the audience in a space full of adult sexiness.

The seventh song was "Mr. Bunny!" with drummer Toshiya Matsunaga. The rhythm was steady and light to the specially arranged background music, but it was Matsunaga's rapping that has become a fixture at Mizuki's recent live performances. Of course, he is a tycoon here as well! So in the latter half of the song, Mizuki got involved and rapped with her own original lyrics, and the exquisite dialogue between the two was met with loud cheers.

Masao Fukunaga, percussionist, entertained the audience with the most instruments used in "Lovely Fruit". He played various sounds on 16 different instruments, including congas, glockenspiels, and cowbells. Mizuki started dancing in the middle of the song, shaking a mandarin orange-shaped shaker, which naturally made the audience sway side to side.

The ninth song was "Kiseki no Melodia" (Miracle Melodia). The combination of Tsutomu Ohira's shimmering piano tone and Mizuki's voice made the audience feel as if their bodies were softly lightened. The lyrics, "I'll make miracles happen over and over again," strongly catch your ears because this performance is made up of a mass of miracles.

Then, the four members from Fujiryo to Ohira were invited on stage to share their thoughts here as well. Fujiryo commented on Mizuki's decision to make the main part of the live performance a one-on-one match, saying enthusiastically, "No one else can do this! he said enthusiastically.
The 10th song was "GUILTY" with these four. Usually popular as a sexy dance number, the song was boldly arranged in a funk-jazz style. Again, as an "experiment," they entertained us from a new angle.

After the costume change, the second half of the show was full of surprises. First, Toshiro Yabuki, the sound producer for Mizuki's live performances, appeared on stage to perform "Shonen," a song written and composed by Yabuki. It had been about six and a half years since he had performed with Mizuki on the live stage with a guitar, but he not only played chords to support Mizuki's singing, but also played solo during the interlude to the delight of the audience.

The next special guest called in was voice actress Saori Hayami. Mizuki contacted Hayami because she wanted to experiment not only with instruments, but also with voices and voicing. After Hayami said joyfully, "I will never forget that my first time in Ehime was on Nana's stage," the two performed "Heart-shaped chant" a cappella. The overlap of Mizuki's straight voice and Hayami's beautiful voice that seemed to envelop the audience was more resonant and compelling in the hall. Some audience members even started to cry unintentionally.

The tie-up battle was now over, and the Cherry Boys gathered on stage. After saying, "We wanted to rearrange some of the standard songs we always play live," they sang "POWER GATE" with a chorus of multiple voices while maintaining the bright atmosphere of the song. The arrangement of "ETERNAL BLAZE" seemed to be an experimental experiment, as it seemed to be a story not only within the song but also throughout the show. I felt that this arrangement was an experimental experiment.

However, Nana Mizuki does not end there. The encore was just like the usual Mizuki Nana live, and when she performed "Rebellion" for the first time, the penlights shook loudly, and the audience's enthusiasm rose quickly. After the announcement, Mizuki performed "JEWEL," a song she wrote for her hometown. She seemed to be overflowing with joy to be able to sing this song in her "irreplaceable hometown," as the lyrics say.

I wanted to sing this in Ehime, too! Mizuki said, and the last song she performed was "Searchlight. The song is the theme song of the movie "Futatsu no Yesterday to Boku no Mirai," which was shot entirely on location in Niihama City, Ehime Prefecture. As the lyrics suggest, cell phone lights filled the auditorium, creating a beautiful scene. The show ended with the audience feeling that they would come back to their hometown again, relying on this light.

As the title "MUSIC LABORATORY" suggests, the performance was a "laboratory for enjoying sound" in itself, as the audience was entertained by various arrangements with various instruments, not being bound by the existing form of the songs.

Judging from the reaction of the audience, the experiment must have been a "great success.
