PS4 system update "Version 7.00" is available from 10/8, enabling remote play on Android phones other than Xperia!

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) announced that version 7.00 of the PlayStation 4 system software update will be available on Tuesday, October 8, 2019.


The update will primarily update the following features.


■ The following will be changed in parties.
 The maximum number of participants in a party will increase from 8 to 16.
 Network connectivity will be improved.
 Voice chat sound quality will be improved.


Due to the changes, it will not be possible to party or share play with other users who are using a different version of the system software. Also, it is not possible to party with users who are using PlayStation Vita.


■More devices will support Remote Play.
Remote Play can be enjoyed on smartphones and tablets running Android 5.0 or later (*1), except for Xperia.

In addition, on devices running Android 10, a wireless controller (DUALSHOCK4) can also be connected via Bluetooth for remote play (*1) (*2).

The following settings can be made during remote play on an iPhone or iPad.
The following settings can be changed by selecting "Settings" displayed on the screen during remote play.
 iPhone or iPad: The controller can always be displayed.
 iPhone: Enables the screen orientation to be fixed.
 iPhone, iPad or Mac: Enables remote play by connecting the wireless controller (DUALSHOCK4) via Bluetooth (*3).
