Special feature] Serialization in commemoration of the Boitama Project Reading Theater vol.2 "white Swan+"! The 2nd interview with Moiha Gomoto!

The Voitama Project, a project in which new voice actors take on various challenges with the aim of becoming world-class voice artists, will hold a reading theater vol. 2 "white Swan+" on November 2 and 3, 2019.

Boitama Project Reading Theater vol. 2 "white Swan+" is a re-staging of the reading theater event "whiteSwan" held on March 27, 2019 at Ebisu Tenmado.switch, with two versions: "ver. Denev" with the same cast as last time and "ver. Albireo" with a shuffled cast. Albireo" in which the cast has been shuffled.

The five new female voice actors belonging to the Boitama Project, Ruri Arai, Akane Kumada, Moeba Gomoto, Marina Horiuchi, and Chisato Yoshitake, will be performing. The reading play, in which the girls, who are working hard every day toward their dreams despite the obstacles they face, play the same rookie voice actors as themselves, is packed with entertainment elements, including acting and singing!

Akiba Research Institute interviewed the five girls, who are currently rehearsing for the performance! We asked them what they were thinking about for the performance, what they usually think about, why they wanted to be a voice actor, and what they wanted to do. We also asked them about their reasons for wanting to become voice actors and their episodes.

In this second installment, we interview a 17-year-old high school voice actress, Moeba Gomoto.

We asked this promising new face to answer a variety of questions.

─ Nice to meet you! First of all, please introduce yourself.

I am 17 years old and a sophomore in high school.

─ ─ Isn't it difficult to balance school and work?

No, I basically put my schoolwork first, and sometimes my tiredness from school is blown away by working as a voice actress. I love acting.

─ I see! What kind of play is the "Voitama Project Reading Theater vol. 2 'white Swan+'" in which you will be performing?

We who belong to the "Boitama Project" will perform as new voice actors, and since we are new voice actors ourselves, we are very familiar with the feelings of the roles we play. We are new voice actors ourselves, so we are very familiar with what it is like to play the role.

We are also experiencing the difficulties that come with being a newcomer, so we have taken what we have felt up to this point and put it into the role to convey the feelings of the character.

───This time, you play the role of a rookie voice actor who is very much in sync with yourself.

This is actually the first role I've been given.

───What? You didn't look like that at all in Vol. 1. How do you feel about playing a role for the first time?

Gomoto: I felt that my role was so lovable. I imagine a lot of things in order to understand the role, and I always try to be as close to the character as possible. The more I think about it, the more I enjoy the feeling of liking my role. I really liked Chihiro, who I played last time, and at the same time I liked the roles that everyone else played, so I think I had a lot of fun acting in this role.

───And at the "Boitama Project Reading Theater vol. 2 "white Swan+" to be held on November 2 and 3, you will perform "ver. Denev" with the same cast as last time and "ver. Albireo" with different casts.

I have been imagining what Chihiro would think if she took this lesson, and I feel like I have been with her for a long time. I'm going to play Chihiro once more, and I hope I can show even more love for Chihiro than I did last time (laughs).

─ ─ And in ver. Albireo, you will play Sayaka, a role that was played by Kumada-san in ver. Denev, how do you feel about this one?

At that time, Sayaka was my first choice for the role. The reason I chose Sayaka was because the setting of the role was very close to mine, and I thought I could play it from a position closer to mine. On the other hand, I had the impression that Chihiro would be the opposite of me and would be very difficult to play. However, because Sayaka is so close to me, I think it is difficult to imagine what it would be like for another person to have a different experience.

─ Are you the type of person who speaks up like Sayaka?

Yes, I am. We are similar in the way we speak outspokenly and don't show our nervousness more than other girls. In Albireo, I hope I can cheer everyone up like Sayaka.

─ You also sing in the play. Are you good at singing?

I am not good at singing (laughs). (Laughs.) I am not confident in my singing, so I hope to entertain the audience with my expressive ability. But it is fun to sing with the five of us. Our eyes meet when we sing. When we do that, it's as if the characters are really there. I feel as if our eyes meet as if I am playing a role, and that is what makes it so much fun. I think that when we do that, you can see how well the members get along with each other.

───What made you decide to become a voice actor?

When I was in the first year of junior high school, I started watching various works, and I watched an anime called "Assassination Classroom" because I thought it looked interesting. I was overwhelmed by the performances of the voice actors, and I started to feel that I wanted to become a voice actor. Until then, I was just an anime geek, but from there I started to aspire to be a voice actor.

─ ─ "Assassination Classroom" had a lot of characters and a lot of dialogue, so it is certainly a perfect work for enjoying the voice actors' performances, isn't it?

I think so. The story of various characters interacting with each other and overcoming various difficulties was great, and the voice actors' performances were wonderful. I can't really put it into words, but anyway, it was like, " Oh my God!

─ ─ I know exactly what you mean (laughs). Do you remember the most memorable voice actor in "Assassination Classroom"?

It was Jun Fukuyama who played the role of "Kakusensei. At first, a strange monster appeared and started saying "Nurufufufufufu ......" in a nasal voice, so I thought he must be good at playing non-human characters. I was overwhelmed by the wide range of acting by the voice actors.

─ So you yourself want to become a voice actor who can do various kinds of acting?

Gomoto: Yes, I do. That is why I am happy to be able to play various roles in one play.

─ ─ From your point of view, what do you find attractive about your co-stars and what are the highlights of the play?

Let me start with Chisato. She has a very cute voice, and once she spoke to me from behind at a train station, and I thought she was talking to a little girl. Her voice is that cute, but when it comes to acting, she takes her role seriously, and the gap between the two is amazing. She sings very well and has a wonderful facial expression when she expresses herself, which I think is her charm.

Marina Horiuchi always makes us laugh with her natural way of speaking and she is like a mood maker. In ver. Denev, she plays the role of a strong older sister, so I hope everyone will see that in her performance.

When I am nervous or anxious, she says funny things or dares to tease me. She is also very serious about her acting. We have fun chatting together, but when it comes to lessons and work, there are many things I can learn from her, and she is like a big sister to me.

Ruri is also a very dependable older sister. I am very honest and humble in responding to the direction of Michiru Amama, the writer/director, and I am seriously trying to correct one by one.

───Then again, please tell us about the highlights of this reading performance.

I hope that the audience will see the gap between the two different characters I play this time!

─ ─ Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Now, please give a message to our readers!
