Reki Kawahara celebrates his 10th anniversary as an author, and today, the 10th anniversary of the publication of the first volume of his novel "Sword Art Online" series, published by the entertainment novel publisher Dengeki Bunko, is marked with the announcement that a commemorative project has begun.

Sword Art Online" is an anime work based on the novel by Reki Kawahara, winner of the 15th Dengeki Novel Award (Grand Prize), which depicts the activities of the main character Kirito in the mysterious next generation online game "Sword Art Online". On February 18, 2017, "Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale," an anime movie based on a story written by Kawahara, was released. It was a huge hit, grossing over 4.3 billion yen at the box office worldwide. And "Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online" aired in April 2018, and the latest"Sword Art Online: Articulation" has been on air since October 6, 2018 (Saturday). It was announced that the third cool will start airing in October 2019.

Today marks the 10th anniversary of author Reki Kawahara's life as an author, and the 10th anniversary of the publication of the first volume of his novel "Sword Art Online" series, which is published by Dengeki Bunko, an entertainment novel publisher, on April 10, 2009.

Reki Kawahara, winner of the Grand Prize at the 15th Dengeki Novel Award, made his Dengeki Bunko debut in February 2009 with the award-winning novel "Accel World. He also publishes online novels under a different name on his website. "Sword Art Online" was published by Dengeki Bunko in April 2009, and both works were adapted into a TV anime in 2012.
In June 2014, he published a new work, "Absolute Naru Solitary 《Isolator》. He is now celebrating the 10th anniversary of his debut as an author, and is a popular author of more than 40 books published by Dengeki Bunko.

To commemorate his 10th anniversary, Reki Kawahara has created a commemorative illustration and a commemorative logo drawn by abec, the illustrator of "Sword Art Online" in the Dengeki Bunko collection. In addition, the " Reki Kawahara & Sword Art Online 10th Anniversary Official Website " was opened today, and many projects for fans to enjoy will be developed until March 31, 2020 (Tuesday) as the "Sword Art Online 10th Anniversary Commemorative Period.

My goal is to survive for 10 years! I have repeatedly said that my goal is to survive for 10 years, and now that we are finally celebrating our 10th anniversary, I feel a great sense of accomplishment and a slight sense of loss.
When I think back to the time when I was serializing the first version of "Sword Art Online" on my own website, the road to this point has not been smooth. There were several times when I was so impatient and under so much pressure that I thought, "I can't write anymore. However, I have somehow managed to stay active as a writer for 10 years, thanks to the many people who have supported me and to the readers, viewers, and players who have supported my work up to now.
I have not found my next goal yet, but I will continue to write novels steadily for the next 15 or 20 years. Thank you very much for your continued support.
