We didn't want half results! The results of "Okamoto Nobuhiko's Birthday Commemoration! Character Popularity Poll" results announced!

To coincide with voice actor Nobuhiko Okamoto's birthday, October 24, Akiba Research Institute held an official Akiba Research Institute poll from October 24, 2019 to October 30, 2019, "Okamoto Nobuhiko Birthday Commemoration! Hama character popularity poll", the results of which are presented below.

Mr. Okamoto has played a wide range of characters in many popular anime, and won the Best New Actor Award at the 3rd Seiyu (Voice Actor) Awards in 2009, followed by the Best Supporting Actor Award at the 5th Seiyu (Voice Actor) Hour. He was selected as the first place out of 74 nominated characters. Let's take a look at the results and see which character came in first out of the 74 nominees.

No. 1: " My Hero Academia " (Katsumi Bakugo) with 1,335 votes
No. 2: " HIQUE! (Yu Nishitani) 1090 votes
No. 3: " Assassination Classroom " (Gyo Akabane) 867 votes
No.4: " Toaru" series (Accelerator) 721 votes
No.5: " Blue Exorcist " (Rin Okumura) 600 votes
No.6: " Snow White with Red Hair " (Obi) 473 votes
No.7: " Killing Angel " (Zack) 303 votes
No.8: " TIGER & BUNNY " (Origami Cyclone / Ivan Karelin) 270 votes
No.9: " Meiji Tokyou Kouyou " (Kyoka Izumi) 231 votes
No. 9: " Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun " (Mikoshiba Mikoto) 231 votes

So, with 1,335 votes out of a total of 8,177 votes, Bakugou Katsumi, a.k.a. "Kacchan," from "My Hero Academia," which is currently airing its third anime season, took first place out of 74 characters. He is a childhood friend of the main character, Midoriya Izuhisa, and is Izuhisa's fated rival character who has really been through a lot during the course of the work. He has already won the popularity poll in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine three times in a row, beating out the main character, Izuhisa, for the top spot.

Second place went to "HIQUE!Nishitani Yu, a.k.a. Noyasan, "Karasuno's Guardian God," came in second place. The fifth-place finisher, Okumura Rinfrom "Blue Exorcist", is similar to Nishitani, but she is more of an orthodox heathen, since she is the main character. Rin Okumura of "Blue Exorcist," who came in fifth, is a similar type to Nishitani, but he is a more orthodox hot-blooded type because he is the main character. However, both have in common a childlike side appropriate for their age, and the expressions they show during games and battles, which are full of boyishness.

Third place went to Akabane Gyo of "Assassination Classroom. He is a popular character in the magazine "Weekly Shonen Jump," and his popularity is well documented, as he was voted No. 1 in the magazine's popularity contest. He is a loner who is not a member of a clique and is the first student to inflict damage on Kakusensei.

In fourth place is Accelerator from the "Toaru" series, a tsundere who is rumored by some tsundere lovers to be the "strongest tsundere" of all. The character has appeared in the anime since 2008, and has been a longtime friend of Okamoto-san's for more than 10 years. Until then, Mr. Okamoto had often played the role of a nice young man, but with Accelerator, he has broadened his range to include crazy characters, and now it is impossible to talk about Mr. Okamoto without mentioning his crazy characters. It is no exaggeration to say that it was this character that gave birth to characters such as Bakugou and Kyo, who took first place in this year's contest. Therefore, there is no doubt that this character was a cornerstone in the creation of the current "voice actor Nobuhiko Okamoto," and it must have left a strong impression on fans. The acting skills he has cultivated in this way may be seen in the maniacal side of Zack in "Killing Angel" (No. 7) and the tongue-tied tsundere character of Kyoka Izumiin "Meiji Toukyou Kouanga" ( No. 9), which are also based on the acting skills he developed in the Accelerator.

A character that turns the trend of the past rankings on its head is Obiof "Snow White with Red Hair," who comes in at No. 6. He is entrusted with the role of escorting the heroine, Snow White, who was originally hired as an assassin, and he sometimes shows a stern expression on his face. He is usually an aloof character, and he sometimes makes fun of Zen, his master. In addition, he actually has feelings for Shirayuki, but he never tells her how he feels about her. I know, I know, I know that feeling. ......

Ivan Karelin, aka Origami Cyclone of"TIGER & BUNNY," came in at No. 8. I wonder if the 270 votes were for the Origami Cyclone or for Ivan, his real identity, and how the votes were divided.

The two tied for ninth place with 231 votes were Kyoka Izumi of"Meiji Tokei Kogai" and Mikoshiba Mikotoof "Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun" fame. As mentioned earlier, Kyoka Izumi is a "tsundere" character whose attitude toward the main character is just like a picture of a tsundere, and Mikoshiba, nicknamed "Mikorin" by Nozaki, is also a tsundere character who cannot be honest due to her sensitive and shy nature. The top 10 characters include the following two

In the top 10 characters, there were many sharp characters who stood out, and many characters with personalities that could not be imagined from the gentle personality that Ms. Okamoto herself exudes. Please click on the link below to see the detailed voting results.

Finally, we would like to wish Mr. Okamoto a very happy birthday!
