SEGA Games Co., Ltd. held the "Puyo Puyo eSports" "General Division" and "Elementary School Division" Hokkaido Representative Round of the "National Inter-Prefectural eSports Championships 2019 IBARAKI", a cultural program of the "Iki Iki Ibaraki Yume Kokutai" on Friday, May 3, at the AEON MALL Sapporo Hiraoka Center Court. This event was held at the AEON MALL Sapporo Hiraoka Center Court.

This event is a tournament to determine the prefectural representative of the "Puyopuyo eSports" division of the "National Inter-Prefectural eSports Championship 2019 IBARAKI" scheduled to be held in October this year. The winner of each of the "General Division" and "Elementary School Division" will be selected to participate in this tournament to be held in Ibaraki Prefecture. The "Elementary School Division" was the first of eight preliminary rounds to be held in eight blocks across Japan.
This year's competition was limited to participants who live, work, or commute to school in Hokkaido.

In the preliminary round, all the participants challenged themselves to a score attack to see how many points they could score in a chain in two minutes. The top 16 players advanced to the final tournament, where they competed against each other (two sets and two games won).

From the final tournament, TV personality Yurika Tachibana appeared as MC and professional player Kumachomu as commentator.
Before the final tournament, Kumachomu showed off his big chain and total elimination, and the audience was very excited.

The winners of the elementary school division tournament were "Kappi-kun," who came in first in the preliminary round, and "Kuroneko," who came in second in the preliminary round.
KAPIKUN" had won the tournament so far with overwhelming strength, but "KURONEKO" fought back, as expected in a matchup of the first and second place finishers. Commentator Kumachomu praised both players, saying, "Even from a professional's point of view, both of them are advanced players! However, "Kappi-kun" took the first set 2-1, and "Kappi-kun" took the second set 2-1 to win by a set count of 2-1. He became the first representative of elementary school students in Japan, as well as the representative of Hokkaido.
In an interview after the match, "Kappi-kun" said, "I didn't think I could win. (I will do my best as usual (in this tournament)! I will do my best as usual (in this tournament)!


In the general age 12 and up division, the final match was a fierce battle. The winners were "Kototo," who came in first in the preliminary round, and "Zettori," who came in seventh in the preliminary round. The two players, who actually knew each other well, shook hands in a friendly atmosphere at first. However, the atmosphere changed as soon as they started, and "Zettori" took the first set with a 2-1 set count. In the second set, which was going in favor of "Zettori" a little, "Is it over? but "Koto" showed amazing tenacity and made a great comeback! Koto" took the second set and the match went to a full set. In the fateful third set, the two players were locked in a deadlock, but in the end, "Zettori" escaped and won the match! He won the title of representative of Hokkaido.

Zettori said, "I don't think I'm up to the national top level yet. I want to use the time before the main tournament to do my best. (The reason for winning) I was encouraged by the cheering voices I heard while I was playing. (In this tournament), I want to make the competition more memorable than the record," he said enthusiastically.
