Switch "TETRIS 99" to hold Tetris 35th Anniversary Event on May 17 at 16:00! New mode also available with additional paid DLC!

Nintendo has updated Tetris® 99, the Nintendo Switch Online subscriber-only software currently available. Two new updates have been released in conjunction with the update.

Tetris 99" combines the elements of a "battle royale game" with the classic puzzle game "Tetris", which many people have experienced before.

In conjunction with the update of "Tetris 99," we have received information on the Tetris 35th anniversary event and additional paid content.

The 3rd Tetris 1 Cup "Tetris 35th Anniversary Celebration! Held

The year 2019 marks the 35th anniversary of the creation of "Tetris. It will also be the 30th anniversary of the release of "Tetris" on the Game Boy by Nintendo. To commemorate this, this month's Tet1 Cup will feature a special event called "Tetris 35th Anniversary Celebration".

■During the event period, the look and feel of the game will be a special Game Boy-specific theme!

During the event period, the game screen will change to a theme based on the Game Boy "Tetris" released 30 years ago!　Please take this opportunity to enjoy the special nostalgic yet new experience of playing "TETRIS 99" with the nostalgic graphics of 30 years ago.

■ Get the "Game Boy Tetris" theme with event points!
In this event, as in the "2nd Tet1 Cup", you will get event points depending on your ranking in the event. All players who earn 100 or more event points will receive a Game Boy Tetris theme for use in this event. The "Customize" is a new feature added in the distribution update that allows players to choose their own theme and emblems for the game.

*100 points for 1st place, 50 points for 2nd place, 30 points for 3rd place, 20 points for 4th to 10th place, 10 points for 11th to 30th place, 7 points for 31st to 50th place, 4 points for 51st to 90th place, 1 point for 91st to 99th place

First delivery of additional paid content!
I want to play on the move! I want to practice alone! To meet the needs of players who want to practice alone, we will distribute two modes that can be played offline as the first additional paid content.

CPU Battle Mode
This mode allows you to play "TETRIS 99" offline with 98 other players at the same time. 5 CPU levels are available, making it ideal for practicing against other players.


Marathon Mode
This is a mode where you can improve your technique without being interrupted like in a versus game. This mode is recommended for those who are new to "Tetris" and for those who want to practice against other players.


A second round of additional paid content will be released in the future. The second round will include offline content that will allow players to enjoy CPU battles with family and friends. The price is 1,000 yen for the first and second set. Why not hone your technique with the additional content and aim for the Game Boy Tetris theme in the 3rd Tetris 1 Cup?
