Linked Horizon, who has been singing the theme song of the globally popular TV anime "Shinkage no Kyojin" since the show's inception, became the first Japanese artist to perform live at an official event in Saudi Arabia.
The event was called SAUDI ANIME EXPO 2019 and was the first official Japanimation event held in Saudi Arabia from November 14-16. It is the country's largest event to introduce Japanese animation to Saudi Arabia through various exhibitions, hands-on content, and stage performances.
Linked Horizon was invited as the first Japanese artist in Saudi Arabia to perform on the main stage of the special venue in the capital city of Riyadh, where the event was held, as a representative of Japan.
The event attracted an audience of 16,000, and local fans were thrilled to see Linked Horizon's live performance for the first time, creating a sense of unity that transcended national borders.
Linked Horizon has been actively performing around the world, but this was their first time in the Middle East. This historic accomplishment, which created another bond with the world, attracted much attention in Saudi Arabia as well.
Linked Horizon brought a total of over 60 cast and crew members from Japan for this live performance, creating a stage that was almost identical to a regular one-man show.
The moment the performance began with "Kouren no Yumiya," the opening theme song for the first season of the TV anime "Shinkage no Kyojin" Season 1, the audience went into a frenzy of excitement.
After singing the first song, lead singer Revo said, "Good evening, we are Linked Horizon. This is my first time in Saudi Arabia, but I am very happy to be here tonight to perform "Jaeger" with you all! Thank you very much. Thank you very much." This was the first time for Linked Horizon to try MCing in Arabic. The audience was filled with joy as they applauded him.
After the MC, Eiko Matsumoto, a diva of the cast, sang "14-character message," followed by Jisaki Fukunaga singing "Kanojo wa ikurugakuninaka no nakade" (She is in a cold coffin).
