On May 18, voice actress/artist Yuuka Aisaka held her first live "Ai no Uwa Nuri" and a fan meeting at Yokohama Bay Hall.
Aisaka had been inactive since July 2018 due to a throat disorder. This "Ai no Uwa Nuri" was her first appearance in front of her fans since announcing her resumption of activities in February of this year. With about 1,000 people gathered on the all-standing floor, she appeared on stage and first sang her debut single "Transparent Night Sky" and her third single "Hikari, Hikari". She sang beautifully from low to high notes, showing off to her fans that she is back to full strength.
She sang, "Hello, everyone, I'm back! I mean, I'm home! When she first greeted the audience, the floor responded, "Welcome back," to which the audience applauded loudly. After bowing deeply, she smiled and said, "I am sorry for causing you worry," and then said, "You have seen me back in good spirits with 'Transparent Night Sky' and 'Hikari, Hikari.
From there, she sang nonstop through five of the most intense songs in her repertoire: "Jade Butterfly's Dwelling Place," "Look back," "Dependence," "Impulse," and "Anti Geometry. Aisaka looked like a rock singer as she sang the serious lyrics with a downcast look on her face. It was a powerful performance that showed once again the high level of her singing ability.
The middle part of the live was an acoustic corner. She sang a cover of Yasuko Omori's "Non-national hero" and an acoustic number "Now is here" from her first album "Roojo no Chu de Kimi no Kokoro de Aooku Koru Mamoru" (In the middle of the rooftop, your heart is blue and fragrant). Even though it was an acoustic set, the vocals were emotional. The audience was drawn in by her voice.
In the second half of the show, when she changed into a feminine dress, she continued the live with pop numbers with a sense of speed. Two bright songs, "Prime Point" and "Shine," got the audience even more excited, and they continued to sing along to Chatmonchy's "Kaze ha Blowba Koi" and BRILLIANT4's "Elementario de metamano! (ending theme of the TV anime "Amagi Brilliant Park"), of which Aisaka was a member.
The last song of the live was "Cerulean Squash," the 2nd single. This refreshing youth number brought the show to a close.
The audience encored the live in casual costumes arranged from their live T-shirts.
Unexpectedly, they performed a new song, "Ai no Uwa Nuri," which was written especially for this occasion. This song was his first attempt at composing as well as writing lyrics. The lyrics delicately express a sense of loss and progress, as if expressing current feelings. The melody was bright and catchy, yet somehow tricky, and the song was full of Aisaka's unique sensibility.
The next song, a cover of Creep Hype's "It's OK," featured Aisaka on electric guitar. The last song of the night was "Hikari, Hikari" (lyrics by Creep Hype's Saikan Ozaki), the second song of the night. Overcoming her anxiety, Aisaka sang the songs she wanted to sing to the fullest, making the concert a success. When it was all over, Aisaka's eyes were shining with tears.
I had been anxious ever since the decision was made for me to return to the stage, but when I woke up this morning, I knew I could do it today. I felt that no matter what the outcome, everyone would forgive me, and I was able to come here without running away.
Aisaka revealed her feelings before singing the last song. Her greatest appeal is that she doesn't hide her negative feelings, but shows them and keeps herself true to herself. Her female fans cheered her on, saying, "Be yourself! A female fan cheered her on, "Be yourself!" and it was impressive to see her smiling shyly.
Yoshiko Ikuta, a voice actress and friend of Aisaka's, hosted the fan meeting after the live. She and Aisaka talked in perfect harmony, and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed from start to finish. In the latter half of the show, a surprise song was performed: "Ohamoni*Harorin♪," a character song of Kotone Noda, the character she played in the TV anime "Sakura Trick," and "Transparent Night Sky," a duet with Ikuta, which was quite rare and drew loud cheers from the audience.
Yuka Aisaka announced on the day that she will publish a photo book this fall. We look forward to her future activities as a voice actress and artist!
