FINAL FANTASY VIII" is the eighth title in the "FINAL FANTASY" series. Squall, a member of "SeeD," a special unit of the mercenary training school Balamb Garden, meets the students of the school and members of the resistance, and eventually becomes involved in an epic battle against witches. The series' standard "MP" concept has been eliminated and replaced by a "junction system" that allows players to stock up on magic, as well as "special techniques" that can only be activated under limited conditions.

Released on PlayStation in 1998, the game became the second best-selling PlayStation title of all time, selling approximately 3.7 million copies, and a remastered version, "Final Fantasy VIII Remastered," was released on PS4 and Steam in September 2019. The game is also available on PS4 and Steam.
