The space opera milestone "Dirty Pair" is finally getting a Blu-ray BOX to celebrate its 40th anniversary!

The TV series, the movie, and the OVA series including "Dirty Pair FLASH" are all included in the Blu-ray BOX, and the first limited edition includes a 100-page booklet "WWWA Official Premium File" with a collection of beautiful copyright illustrations and newly recorded interviews with the people involved in the series. ─ ─ Once again, please tell us about your involvement in the TV series.

Takachiho: Basically, I have not been involved in the TV series. I gave my opinion on what I was asked to check, but I didn't get involved in the production process, because I knew how difficult the production schedule was for a TV series, and it was obvious that if I interfered, the series would not be able to keep going.
However, when it came to costume design, I asked Fujihiko Hosono to design the costumes because I could not get anything I liked from the site. He was hired, but the TV series had an open collar. The original design had a closed collar. The director insisted on it, so I agreed, and the film version was made with the collar closed. I had a say in that much, but I did not participate in the production itself.

──You say that you don't know how "FLASH" was made.

Takachiho: "Dirty Pair" is not an individual title, but a concept. Sunrise asked us to make another "Dirty Bear" animation, so we decided to have them do this "Dirty Pair Concept" in the animation because it was just right.

However, unlike in the past, I participated in the scene with gusto. I did most of the voice acting for Yuri and Kay. At first, I was looking for a girlish voice for Kay, but when I heard Rika Matsumoto's voice, I decided I wanted to keep it that way, so I revised the entire scenario and changed Kay's language to a boyish one.
I couldn't decide on Yuri, so I watched a lot of anime. I went through a mountain of them from one side to the other, looking for the right one. I couldn't find a voice sample that fit the image that the office had prepared. So, I looked for one that actually appeared in an anime. Then I came across the voice of Mariko Kunifuda, so I decided to go with her and asked Mr. Chiba. The two of them were perfect for the job.
