BOSS, the "working man's coffee buddy," is a coffee that helps people work, and under the message "Never stop fighting," the film depicts the difficulties faced by Nakajima, the "faceless lead actor," in his role as Godzilla, and how he overcame them with a professional attitude, The film shows Mr. Nakajima, the "faceless leading man," overcoming the difficulties he faced in portraying Godzilla with a professional attitude.
This special effects film was shot under the full supervision of Toho Co., Ltd. at Toho Studios, which was also used for the filming of the first "Godzilla" in 1954.

Toho Godzilla Suit Production Team Supervision! Gojira Boss Jean" is now available!
The "Godzilla Boss Jean" was completed under the supervision of the Toho Godzilla suit production team. The same type of dorsal fin as that of the first Godzilla is attached to the back of the jacket, and the fabric of the jacket is a faithful reproduction of the skin of the first Godzilla suit, photographed and printed. In addition, the prize is a one-of-a-kind piece that is filled with attention to detail, such as the ability to emit Godzilla's yelping voice.

In particular, the "dorsal fin," a protrusion not normally used on a jumper, is attached to the back of the suit, and was designed to maximize the sense of Godzilla's presence while achieving both comfort and reproduction of the dorsal fin.

In addition, a thin, comfortable boss jumper, which serves as an inner jumper, is placed under the Godzilla outerwear to tie in with the project's intent of "the main character whose face is not shown," which is also the theme of this movie.

Web video "The Leading Actor whose Face is not Shown" Overview

This video is based on the true story of Haruo Nakajima, a Godzilla actor who served as a suit actor for the first Godzilla, a film that now has many fans around the world, and who worked hard every day to overcome the difficulties he faced during the filming.
The filming of the first Godzilla was a grueling physical labor in which he had to perform actions wearing a 100 kg costume, and it was often dangerous.
We hope that you will enjoy watching Haruo Nakajima's efforts to make Godzilla "the Godzilla of the world" along with the special effects technology that Japan prides itself on.

The Leading Actor whose Face is not Shown Movie

Filming episodes

0The first Godzilla was completely reissued under the full supervision of the Toho Godzilla team!
This special effects movie was shot at Toho Studios, where the first Godzilla and many other masterpieces have been filmed, as part of the Godzilla series.
The suit, for which sculptor Yuji Sakai supervised the prototyping and molding, is a special creation reminiscent of that time. The color of the eyeballs is pearl white, the details of the epidermis, and the gradation of the body and dorsal fins are faithfully reproduced in the image of the "first generation" 65 years ago.
Thus, under the full supervision of the Toho Godzilla Team, the Godzilla suit, set, and filming techniques were made as close to the original Godzilla as possible.

zSpecial effects were shot on the traditional Toho Studio NO.8 stage, which is the largest in Japan!
The filming took place on the NO.8 stage of Toho Studio, the largest in Japan, and was conducted over a three-day period using 90 buildings stored by Toho Visual Arts under the supervision of Toho Studio staff and art directors, to create a miniature cityscape on a scale rarely seen in recent years. The film crew were all proud of the special effects workmanship, a rarity in this age of computer graphics, and their eyes lit up like little boys as they said, "Godzilla is the hero of my boyhood, and I am happy to be involved in special effects after a long time.

Staff Comments
Director Nobuaki Hongo commented
The film is a 60-second one-cut movie. I am confident that it is spectacular.
Haruo Nakajima, I am confident that the film is spectacular because it is a 60-second one-cut sequence that follows the history of Godzilla as he chases after the first Godzilla.
I think people think that special effects are an old-fashioned technique, but I felt that the live action was more realistic than CG, the art was amazing, and the strength of the images could only be achieved with the real thing. Even when used today, the quality is as good as CG.
(I felt that if I did not capture even one frame without regret, the whole world would be furious with me, so I was very determined to get the shot. As a result, I think we were able to capture dreamlike material. Please look forward to it.

Godzilla is the king of monsters. The building we used for this shoot is a building that has actually been used in successive Godzilla movies. Godzilla is the king of monsters. I am happy that we were able to make a commercial featuring Haruo Nakajima, who was involved with Godzilla.
We are of the Showa era Godzilla generation, so the Godzilla movies of the Showa era are a model for us. Ideally, they were made during the golden age of Japanese special effects, when they were selling well all over the world.
In the Heisei era, the Godzilla movies of the 1990s had so many miniatures that it was difficult to prepare them with limited time and money. The sky, the ground, the city, the mountains, the sea, the ships and tanks, all had to be created by the art department. We had to make every single telephone pole and streetlight look realistic. The building we used for this shoot was a building that had actually been used in previous Godzilla movies. The inside of the building has curtains, and when you turn on a light bulb, you can see the silhouette of a person.
Nowadays, it is almost impossible to arrange such a large number of miniatures, create an image mainly using miniatures, and have actors join the monsters, as was done this time. This kind of scene itself was precious. I think it is really close to the scene in the Showa period when Haruo Nakajima was active.

Comment by Moriaki Uematsu, special effects director
The entire Toho staff came up with the idea and made it close to the original Godzilla."
I have been involved in various Godzilla productions, including Shin Godzilla, but the first Godzilla (in this commercial) was done by my seniors, so I was honored (to be involved) and happy as well. Special effects are a technique, a taste, and I think it is good to leave them behind. If CG is added to it, I think children will be able to have dreams.
(Godzilla) is a scary monster that was created when I was a child. I have a great longing for Godzilla in the midst of fear. For us, it is a hero. It's hard to get a sense of the world, because it tramples trains and so on, but ......, it was a hero. I was happy to be able to participate in Godzilla, even if the form changed and the time period changed. This Godzilla was also made by the Toho staff, and we came up with various ideas to make it as close to the original Godzilla as possible. I was also happy to work with them on the commercial this time.

Comment from Masato Inazuke, Art Director
I want people to pay attention to the expression of the city lights, which can only be achieved in black-and-white.
This was my first time shooting a commercial for the first Godzilla, so I thought I could do it on a larger scale than I had done in the past with ordinary miniatures. With special effects, I could create any city I wanted, so that was fun. It was fun because it was similar to the feeling of making sand piles when I was a child. (Laughs) I was particular about the number of lights in the city because we were shooting in black and white. I wanted the lights to look like they were flying.

Kenya Saito, cast member who played Haruo Nakajima commented
The story is filled with the hardships of the time.
The story is filled with the hardships of that time. For example, "I couldn't walk because the suit was too heavy," etc. I think there were hardships because there were no precedents in those days. Nowadays, technology has advanced, and the Godzilla suit I am wearing is lightweight, so I can walk around in it, but I tried to express the strength of Godzilla's huge, heavy body.
(It's hot and painful (inside the Godzilla suit), but when I'm acting, the feeling comes first, so I don't feel any pain. But when the cut was made, I suddenly felt a sense of pain.

Keiji Ota, Director, in charge of visual image business, music business, and Chief Godzilla Officer (CGO), Imaging Division, Toho Co.
Godzilla enters a new era.
Nippon's world-class character "Godzilla" began its first steps in 1954.
The cast and crew who were involved in the filming of the movie at that time made a blood-curdling effort, and I believe that over the years they have shaped the "Godzilla" brand.
The movie production has also changed with the times, and the "Godzilla" brand has taken shape.
As time has passed, movie production has changed from special effects to computer graphics, but I believe that this time we can once again experience the power of special effects technology in this powerful movie.
Godzilla King of Monsters," the first Godzilla movie in 2025, will be released simultaneously worldwide on May 31 (Fri.) in the 65th anniversary year of the first "Godzilla" movie.
This is a rare opportunity to experience both "full CG" and "special effects. Please come and see it.
