PS4 "Monster Hunter World: Iceborn", new element "Clutch Claw" and new action videos for the big sword and sword!

Capcom has released a video introducing the new "Clutch Claw" element and new sword and dagger actions from "Monster Hunter World: Iceborn," a blockbuster expansion for "Monster Hunter: World" for PS4 (*PC (Steam) version to be released this winter), scheduled for release on September 6 (Friday).

The "Monster Hunter" series is a hunting action game in which players confront giant monsters in a magnificent natural setting. In "Monster Hunter: World," the latest title in the series and the first for a console in nine years, players become hunters who set foot on a "new continent" as part of a survey team and explore an unknown continent.

The latest title in the series, "Monster Hunter: World," is a record-breaking smash hit that marks a major change from previous titles in the series, with seamless movement between areas and various actions, display of damage figures to monsters, and the ability to join quests mid-quest.

The PS4 version of "Monster Hunter World: Iceborn," scheduled for release on September 6 (Friday), will not only add new quest ranks, actions, fields, monsters, weapons, and armor, but will also allow players to experience a further story that begins after the ending of "Monster Hunter: World, It is a large-scale expansion content that allows players to experience the volume equivalent to "G" in the series up until now.

The new element of "Monster Hunter World: Iceborn", the "Clutch Claw", and new actions of the sword and dagger have been introduced in a video. New actions and new linkages for other weapons will be released in due course, so please look forward to further updates!

▼Hunting Actions to be Deepened
New actions will be added to the clutch claw and all 14 weapon types in the super expansion content "Monster Hunter World: Iceborn".
If you purchase "Monster Hunter World: Iceborn", these new actions can be used from the beginning, regardless of whether or not you have cleared "Monster Hunter: World" main story.

Clutch Claw" action common to all weapons

A new action common to all weapons, "Clutch," allows the slinger to cling to monsters using the newly added "Clutch Claw. While clutching, stamina is consumed, but it creates a new way to control the monster's movement. In addition to the previously released "Blow Up," this time we will introduce details of the "Clutching Weapon Attack" and the new "Clutching Claw Attack".

Clutching Weapon Attacks
This is a special weapon attack that can be performed while clutching. The wounded part of the body becomes soft for a while, making it harder to repel attacks. This is effective for hard parts or when aiming to destroy parts of the body.

Characteristics of each type of weapon
The ease of wounding a wounded part by "clutching weapon attack" differs depending on the weapon type.

Great sword, hammer, hunting flute, lance, slash axe, charge axe, heavy bow gun
Easier to wound monsters. It will create more chances to inflict damage.

Single-handed sword, twin swords, daggers, gunlances, corded staffs, bows, light bowguns
It is expected to make the slinger's bullets drop, and it also has the effect of wounding the monster, albeit slightly. This will increase opportunities for actions that utilize the slinger's bullets and expand the range of your strategy even more!

Claw attack while clutching
While clutching a monster's head, you can change the monster's direction by attacking with a claw. This is effective when you want to change the direction of the monster to blow it away, and also has the effect of making it easier to wound it, although only slightly (not effective against angry monsters).

Blow away
While clutching a monster's head, the slinger can fire all of its bullets and send the monster flying in the direction it is facing. If the blasted monster collides with a wall, it will fall over. When the monster falls over, it damages a specific part of the body, and if the part is wounded, additional damage is inflicted. (Not valid for monsters in a rage state)

Additional "coordinated actions and new elements" for each of the 14 weapon types
New coordinated actions and new elements have been added for each of the 14 weapon types to expand the hunting action. The individuality of the weapons is further expanded, allowing players to enjoy a greater variety of actions.

Great Sword

True tame slash (hard-hitting)
The first stage of the true tame slash hits the weak point of a monster, which is soft and easily damaged, making the second stage more powerful.

Reinforcement Shot
After the ▲ attack, a reinforced shot can be fired. After the attack, it is possible to derive a true tame zanjiri or a naginata, which can be followed up with a high-powered attack after the attacker has been made to flinch by the enhanced shot.

Tachi Sword

Special Sword
The special sword slashing action that can be performed after the ▲ attack can be derived from either the Iai Battou Zari or the Iai Battou Kiba Zari.

Iai Battou Ziri
When the attacker is hit, the Neriki Gauge is automatically increased. If it is performed in conjunction with an opponent's attack, the automatic increase in the Neriki Gauge is increased for a certain period of time, and the attacker will not flinch during the Iai Battou Zan.

Iai Battou Kiba Ziri
The color of the Neriki Gauge drops one level when it is activated, but it is a highly powerful technique. If it is performed in time with the opponent's attack, it can be performed without lowering the color of the Neriki Gauge, and the attacker will not be stunned while performing the Iai Battou Kiba Ziri.

Reinforcement Shot
After the ▲ kiba-ziri, a reinforced shot can be fired. This allows you to perform a kiba-ziri while aiming for the monster's flinch.
