Demon Slayer," serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, has announced that the first printing of the 18th volume of the comics, released on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, has reached 1 million copies. The total number of copies of the series has also exceeded 25 million (including electronic editions).

Demon Slayer is a manga series by Gotouge Koyoharu, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since 2016. Set in Taisho Japan, it is a sword-fighting adventure about the journey of the main character, a young boy named Tanjirou, whose family was killed by demons. Seeking a way to turn his sister Priestess Nezuko* (Nezuko), the only survivor despite being turned into a ferocious demon, back to human form, he sets out with his demonized sister to avenge the demons that killed their family.


The anime will begin airing in April 2019. The animation director is Haruo Tonozaki, character design is by Akira Matsushima, and the animation is produced by ufotable, which was in charge of the theatrical version of "Fate/stay night [Heaven's Feel ]", "Katsugeki Toukendanbu" and "Tales of Zestiria the Cross". The final episode of the TV anime, "A New Mission," will air at the end of September 2019, bringing the "Tanjiro Kamado Tatsushi Hen" story to a close, and a new development has been announced: the production of a theater version.
