PS4 "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" Japan Representative Tournament to be held! The winning team will qualify for the World Tournament!
The Call of Duty Challengers Japan National Championship, an e-sports tournament for the currently released PS4 title "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" (SIE), will be held by the end of 2020.
The first title in the "Call of Duty" series was released in 2003 on PS3, Xbox, and PC. Many sequels followed, and when "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" ("CoD4") was released in 2007, its popularity skyrocketed, and it has become one of the most popular titles in the world. This title is based on the theme of rebooting CoD4. Players will travel the world's battlefields as "Tier 1 operators" or Arab soldiers in a variety of positions to engage in "Modern Warfare".
The Japan preliminary rounds will be held in the spring and summer of 2020. Players will compete for the right to participate in the world championship "Call of Duty Challengers" and a total of 5 million in prize money. First, qualifying rounds will be held online, and the top six teams and the top two teams with the best results in the most recent tournament held previously will advance to the final round. The top four teams from that group will then be eligible to participate in the offline finals.
The top four teams that performed well in the previous season will play preseason matches starting on Saturday, December 7, 2019. The matches will be streamed on SIE's official channels (YouTube, Twitch, Periscope), so check them out if you are interested.
