Planetarian - Snow Sphere" OVA project crowdfunding reaches 30 million yen goal within 2 days of start!

To commemorate the 15th anniversary of the birth of Key's digital novel "planetarian" on November 29, 2004, a 15th anniversary crowdfunding campaign was launched with the aim of making a film of "Snow Globe," one of the external novels in the series. It was announced today, December 2, that the project had reached its goal of 30 million yen within two days of the start of the project.

Planetarian" is a digital novel released in 2004 by Key/Visual Arts, known for "Kanon," "AIR" and "CLANNAD. Set in a near-future city devastated by a world war, "planetarian" is a science fiction story about the interaction between a man who wanders into a planetarium and a girl-like robot named Yumemi Hoshino who has been waiting for customers there for 30 years.

On November 29, the 15th anniversary crowdfunding campaign was launched for the visualization of "Snow Globe," a novel outside the "planetarian" series. The project has been receiving enthusiastic support from many fans since its launch, and reached its goal of 30 million yen at 7:03 p.m. on December 1, just two days after the start. Production of "planetarian: Snow Globe" OVA was decided.

The animation production will be handled by "Okuto Noboru," a studio newly established by the staff of David Production, which produced the distribution and theatrical version of "planetarian. Hitoshi Tamamura, director of "Akane Sasu Shoujo" will direct, and Naokatsu Tsuda, director of the previous "planetarian" himself, will participate in this work as a supervisor. Many staff members involved in the previous work will be participating in the project, including Hitomi Takechi for character design and Shogo Yaskawa for the script.

The crowdfunding campaign is still ongoing, and if 40 million yen is raised, a stretch goal of "The length of the anime will be extended! The stretch goal of 40 million yen is still in the pipeline. With 54 days left until the end of the campaign, it will be interesting to see how far the support will go.
