The 13th "Golden Cloak" from "Saint Seiya NEXT DIMENSION: Pluto Mythology", the "Golden Cloak of the Serpent Bearer", will be sculpted in a 2m tall figure (the tip of the staff is 2.4m tall)! The height of the tip of the staff is 2.4 meters!

Weekly shonen manga magazine "Weekly Shonen Champion" (Editor-in-Chief: Shingo Mukawa) is celebrating its 50th anniversary since its first issue on July 15, 1969, with the catchphrase "Desperately Desperate for Half a Century" to express gratitude to fans. Commemorative Project " is underway.

As one of the "50th anniversary project," a life-size statue of the 13th "Golden Cloak" from "Saint Seiya NEXT DIMENSION: Pluto Mythology" by Masami Kurumada, a legitimate sequel to "Saint Seiya" by Masami Kurumada, was created. The life-size statue will be unveiled at the "Weekly Shonen Champion 50th Anniversary Grand Thanksgiving Festival" event to be held at the Akihabara UDX Gallery on July 15, 2019 (Monday, national holiday), the 50th anniversary of the first issue of the magazine. Up until now, 12 life-size standing statues of the "Golden Cloak" have been created, but the "Golden Cloak" of the constellation Serpentina will be the first life-size standing statue to be unveiled in the world.

Life-size standing statues of the 12 "Golden Cloaks" appearing in "Saint Seiya" were shown to the public at the "Saint Seiya 30th Anniversary Exhibition Complete Works of Saint Seiya" held in 2016.
In "Saint Seiya NEXT DIMENSION: Pluto Mythology," which is currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion, the legendary 13th golden saint "Serpentarius," which existed in mythological times, has made a comeback. Champion 50th Anniversary Grand Thanksgiving Festival".

The life-size statue will be approximately 2 meters high to the top of the head and 2.4 meters high at the tip of the staff. We hope you will enjoy the sense of presence of the holy robe worn by the legendary golden saints of the mythological age.

Production process up to this point
▼Step01: Modeling

*This is an image of modeling. It is different from the actual life-size standing statue.
Based on the 3D model for the figure, the data is adjusted to be appropriate for a 1/1-scale standing figure as a person of 190 cm in height. The balance and details of each part are also adjusted.

Step02: Prototype production

The modeling data is put into a large 3D printer. Since it is difficult to reproduce details with a 3D printer, the craftsmen process all the parts by edging, carving, and smoothing the surfaces.
The finished parts are temporarily assembled, and the balance is adjusted.

Step03: FRPing and surface treatment

Plaster is applied thickly to the styrofoam material, and when the plaster has hardened, the inner styrofoam material is broken and the plaster is hollowed out. This is used as a mold, and FRP resin is poured into it. When this hardens, it becomes the final material.
The surface treatment of all parts is done by hand. This gives the material a realistic feel that is incomparable to that of styrene roll material. Once this process is complete, the process proceeds to the plating process.

■"Select Manifesto" Vol. 3

The "Weekly Shonen Champion 50th Anniversary Grand Thanksgiving Event" will also launch the third round of the "Select Manifesto.
In the "Select Manifesto," each of the 13 artists will present three manifestos, and fans will vote for the manifesto they would like to see realized.
Following the first and second manifestos, "Black Jack" (Tezuka Productions), "Weak Mushi Pedal" (Wataru Watanabe), "Full Ahead! Coco" (Yonehara Hideyuki), "Invasion! Ika Musume" (Mr. Masahiro Abe), "Ma Iruma-kun" (Mr. Osamu Nishi), and "Iruma-kun! Iruma-kun" (Osamu Nishi) have been announced as the third manifesto, and voting is now open.

The "Weekly Shonen Champion 50th Anniversary Commemorative Project" also includes the "Dream Project," a project to realize the dreams of authors with funds raised from fans through crowdfunding (until June 14).
A "Charity Auction" is also underway (until June 19), in which the authors are cooperating to auction off their treasures and donate a portion of the proceeds to charity.

In addition, the "Weekly Shonen Champion 50th Anniversary Commemorative Website," which commemorates the 50th anniversary of the first issue of Weekly Shonen Champion, is showing interviews with the artists, past covers, and other contents.
