Signature Present! Character relay interview for "swing,sing", a new content of healing and music connected with jazz and cafes! No.3 Asahina Hioi

A new project, "swing,sing", is a series of interviews with the characters to support the start of the project. This is a series of interviews with the characters of "swing,sing" to support the start of the project!

swing, singing" is a graffiti of youth amidst the aroma of jazz and coffee at the Primrose Cafe in the resort town of Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture.

Violet Yaotome, a student at a music school in the city, transfers to a school in Karuizawa to escape the busy city life. When she arrives at her lodgings, the Primrose Cafe, she is asked by Momose Momo, the owner of the cafe, to help her save the cafe, which is on the verge of bankruptcy.

Violet and her friends take up instruments left behind by Momose's grandfather, the former owner, and play music as they aim for a loan on the café.

Aki Izumi, who has worked on numerous contents, will write the original story, Hirotaka Hayakawa, a composer who won the Record Award in 2018, will produce the music, Eito Higashiyama will design the characters, and Toriyaro, who will make his commercial debut with this work, will do the comic book adaptation.

Starting with the unveiling event to be held on May 29, 2022, the manga serialization will begin, and the digital release of the overall song "Harmony" and character songs will begin simultaneously. In order to support this work, which has various live events scheduled in the future, Akiba Research Institute has started a series of interviews with the main characters and a present project!

In the third installment of this series, we will be featuring Asahina Himari, the mood maker of the cafe "Primrose".

─ Please introduce yourself.

Hioi Hioi Asahina! I'm a sophomore at Shin-Karuizawa High School, and my birthday is July 1st! I've known Momo since we were little!

─ ─ I heard that you are actually quite a young lady. ......?

Hi Aoi Ah, well, you know! The hotel that my dad runs is quite famous, well, I don't really have anything to do with it, but ....... Is it like that? (laugh).

(Laughs.) Although I'm a young lady, I have to help out a lot. There is a church on the premises, and I help out at services on my days off. ......They call me a "sister"? I'm actually more interested in restaurants and that sort of thing. ......

─ ─ You also serve food at Primrose, don't you?

Hioi Yes, yes! Actually, I've been developing the menu for the café since Momo's grandfather was there! The most popular dish is Japanese-style peperoncino made with nozawana! For dessert, I think the baked apple is the most popular! The aroma of cinnamon and the sourness of the apples go great with coffee! Please try it when you come to Primrose!

─ I see that you like cooking.

Aoi: I like cooking, or rather, I like that people are happy with what I do, whether it is in a cafe or a hotel. The only way I can do that is through cooking.

I can't play an instrument like Momo or Sumire! So, for me, music is like cooking!

─ ─ Actually, I heard that you have been practicing your instrument recently.

Hioi Ah, who told you that? I'm keeping it a secret, you know? Actually, I'm practicing drums and percussion for various reasons. ...... Please don't tell anyone until I get good at it, okay?

───Please tell us about your encounter with jazz and why you were attracted to it.

Hioi Well, I used to listen to jazz music at cafes, but I think it was Sumire who made me aware that it was jazz. But I still don't really understand it. Everyone seems to be having fun playing, and it's fun for me to listen to them! I want to be a part of that circle from now on, and I think that's the charm of music!

─ ─ Do you have a favorite album that you would like to recommend?

Hioi I often listen to the radio, and the theme song played on the radio was one of the songs that Momo told me about! Is it called "Bittersweet Samba"? Violet says it's not jazz, but ...... I think this is another song that would go well with the cafe!

─ ─ I heard that various players get together and play at the cafe "Primrose". How do you feel about playing at the cafe?

Hioi: I don't know yet, because I don't play an instrument yet (laughs). (laughs) But I see everyone playing happily, and I wish I could be a part of it! So I guess Primrose performances are special!

─ ─ Do you have any ambitions or dreams for the future regarding your musical activities?

Hioi: For now, I want to get better at the instrument I'm practicing now! I guess! Then I want to perform with everyone!

─ ─ Lastly, do you have any comments for the readers of Akiba Research Institute?

Hi Aoi Please come to Primrose Cafe when you visit us! Coffee and my homemade food! Have a meal!
