Yoshihiro Togashi's hit work "YuYu Hakusho" was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" for 4 years from 1990, and was also made into an anime. Starting with the shocking death of the main character in the first episode, the fantasy adventure unfolds with epic battles across the demon world and spirit world.

Even a quarter of a century after its serialization ended, "YuYu Hakusho" is still talked about by fans, and Netflix has adapted it into a drama series. Yesterday it was announced that the main character, Yusuke Urameshi, will be played by Takumi Kitamura, and while the excitement was still building, the cast for the role of Kurama was also revealed. Jun Shizon, who is active in a wide range of genres including dramas, movies, and voice acting, will play the role.

───How did you feel when you were chosen to appear in this film?
I watched "YuYu Hakusho" when I was a student and loved it, so I never thought I would be asked to be a part of it. Of course I was happy, but at the same time I felt pressure to play the character of Kurama in this work that has many fans all over the world.
I wanted to show how much I had grown over the past 10 years, and I wanted to be a part of the film that he was helming, so I decided to do it.

─ About the appeal of "YuYu Hakusho," which has been loved for more than 30 years
In every era and in every environment, each of them is fighting. For money, for status, for friends,
Each of them has their own reason for fighting, and the direction of that reason must be different. However, in this work, everyone is fighting for something or someone else, even though they respect each other and sometimes clash with each other in the midst of their different feelings. The times may change, but I feel that there is something in this film that can resonate with people no matter what era they live in.

─ About the filming location
I have experienced so many things that I don't think I have ever been in a shooting environment like this before. We spent about two to three years working together on the visuals alone, going through trial and error to find the finest details. The sheer size of the set, the scale of what we put into each scene and each cut. Everything was new to me, and it was an experience that reminded me of my beginnings.
This shoot, where we are all creatively exploring the theme of "From Japan to the World," has been very fulfilling, and I don't want it to end.

Character Introduction
Yusuke is a scorned delinquent who spends most of his time in fights. One day, he dies in an accident while protecting a child. However, the spirit world did not expect that Yusuke, a delinquent, would die saving a child, so he is resurrected as a "spirit world detective" who solves cases involving yokai, and soon finds himself in an epic battle.

At first I thought it was a huge joke because it is a work of art, and all I could do was laugh.
But I was really excited to be able to take on the challenge again with director Tsukikawa, this time on Netflix.

I believe that "YuYu Hakusho" is such a historical work that it is no exaggeration to say that it is the starting point of Japan's proud manga and anime culture. It is universal and unique.

About the role of Yusuke
I think I have the impression that it has a darker atmosphere than the original work. I play the role of Yusuke with a sense of the yankee's quick wittedness and the kindness of not turning away from what is in front of him.

It's very congenial.
I think it is a challenge for all the cast and crew, so I always remember that, but I enjoy making the film.
