Weekend Plastic Modeling by Taiyuki, Voice Actor! Episode 3: "I am the New Leader! Not just the new leader, but the main character! I made "STARSCREAM"!

When you are a working adult, you tend to have a lot of plastic models piled up in your busy life. ...... In this series, Yasuyuki Tai, a voice actor who loves robots and plastic models, takes on the challenge of building plastic models on your behalf!

The concept is "even busy working people can make it this far on their weekends off. There are only two rules: bare bones assembly and a production period of one to two days!　If you read this series, you will surely find the plastic model you want to build.

So, "Weekend Plastic Model Making by Voice Actor Taiyuki! The third installment has begun!

This time, following on from the previous "OPTIMUS PRIME," we will be introducing "STARSCREAM" from FlameToys' "TRANSFORMERS," the second installment in their "Wind and Lightning" model series!

Starscream is a character who often betrays Megatron and begs for his forgiveness after suffering a painful experience, but his popularity is immense and he has become an indispensable character in the "Transformers" series.

He has been previously released as a kit in a deformed form, but this time he has been reworked to a realistic head with a superb arrangement, and is now available as a kit with a strong emphasis on posability!　This Starscream could have been the New Leader!

First of all, the package. Unusually, he is holding the NARUBEAM in both hands, with the NARUBEAM removed from his shoulders.

On the back is a photo of the finished model.

The runners are colorful. Especially, the reproduction of the blue color, which reminds us of the anime, is excellent!　Again, all parts are made of ABS except for the clear parts.

Some of the clear parts are painted. I wonder if they are the parts for the eyes.

Again, the kit comes with shining stickers and a full-color printed instruction manual, making assembly easy!

Let's start assembling it right away!

The impressive point of this time. Both the front and rear armors of the waist are independently movable by default!　No need to cut them into left and right sides!

Read the instructions carefully so as not to overlook the sticker application instructions.

The time required to get to this point is less than 2 hours, feeling surprise at every part of the figure, and like the OPTIMUS PRIME, the torso is divided into 4 stages, and the movement of the torso looks amazing this time.

Three wrist patterns are included for each side: "clenched fist," "flat hand," and "weapon holding wrist," respectively.

And it is completed!　Starscream, the air chief of staff!　It looks so cool even standing up!　Each part of the design has been carefully rearranged, but the shoulder intakes, main wings, naru beams, and the unique body coloring all capture Starscream's unique characteristics.

The design and arrangement were created by Tetsu Amemiya of the anime production studio TRIGGER, just like the previous OPTIMUS PRIME.

The metallic look of the wing stickers is also gorgeous. The insignias on the main wings are upside down, but this is correct. Moreover, the insignia is convex molded.

On the back, many jet aircraft designs can be seen.

Around the chest and face. The face has been sharpened. There are many Starscream models with a shapely face, such as the "Transformer Prime" version and the "Cyberverse" version, and this shape may be based on the image of those models.

When viewed from the side, the shape of the head is somewhat reminiscent of a fighter pilot's helmet. I wondered if this was taken as a motif.

The division of the body parts is one of the features of Furaimodels' plastic kits. Again, it is divided into chest, abdomen, abdomen and waist. I wondered if the cockpit block in the center of the chest would inhibit mobility. ......

The cockpit block can be raised so that it does not interfere with mobility.

As you can see, the figure can flex back and forth flexibly.

Twists are also possible. The connection at the waist allows for 360° rotation.

What is this pointy thing on the back? You may wonder, but this is the nose of a jet plane, which was simplified in the anime. This is a respect for the toys of the time. If you want to make it look more like a toy, paint the tip of the nose in the same blue color as the main body.

The main wings can be folded down to this level because of the movable parts at the base of the main wings.

Despite the small space, the shoulders have a built-in back-and-forth swing mechanism.

The arms are again flexible. The elbows can be bent approximately 180°. Roll axis between shoulder and upper arm. Wrist is ball joint connection. Null beam is detachable.

Legs are one of the most arranged parts. Vertical tail fin at the back can be moved for posing. Ankles are ball joint connection.

Since he is a flying character, there is a joint hole on the underside of his waist to allow the use of a commercially available display stand, so we used this to pose him further!

I'm sorry to say that not being able to fly is inconvenient, isn't it?

I wonder if he'll be able to keep up with me.

The NARUBEAM can be detached from the weapon and held on the wrist with the grip out, as you can see.

Oh ...... I took a lot of pictures this time too ....... I haven't even inked it yet. ......

Here are the ones I inked!　The details on the wings and nal beams are clearer and sharper.

Even though the face does not have so many details, just a line on the lips and nose makes it clearer.

The back, which had a good amount of information, is even clearer thanks to the sumiing effect.

By the way, this is how it looks compared to OPTIMUS PRIME. The head of OPTIMUS PRIME is about half a head taller than that of OPTIMUS PRIME, so they may be almost the same in terms of scale.

We have already decided to release "Thunder Cracker" in color variations, so it is only a matter of time before the initial Jetrons are ready. Or rather, "WindBlade" has been decided to be made into a kit, so her popularity knows no bounds!　I'll tell you more about her at that time.

FlameToys' products, including the "Wind Lightning Models" introduced twice, are basically overseas distributed items, so you rarely see them in Japan, but if you see them at parallel import stores or mail order sites, please check them out!
