GAINAX and Bandai's masterpiece "Royal Space Force: Wings of Honneamise" will be remastered in 4K after 35 years! Some footage from the time of production will be shown!

A 4K remastering of the 1987 animated feature film "Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise" has been announced. Screening information, Blu-ray information, and some of the bonus videos have been released.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the theatrical release of "Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise" on March 14, 1987. This is the first feature-length animated film for both companies, produced by Bandai and GAINAX, a young production group that brings together top creators such as Hiroyuki Yamaga, Hideaki Anno, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, and Shinji Higuchi, who later went on to produce many masterpieces.
The film was produced by Bandai, and Namco Bandai Filmworks has now taken over the film business.

The vast and detailed worldview, created entirely from scratch, including currency, language, and culture, was highly acclaimed, along with the characters that live and breathe in that world. The high quality of the drawing techniques is also supported by anime fans around the world.

To commemorate the 35th anniversary of the release of "Royal Space Force: Wings of Honneamise," a 4K remastering of the film has been decided. Under the supervision of director Hiroyuki Yamaga, 4K scanning and 4K remastering from the 35mm master positive film will be conducted to vividly reproduce the information possessed by the film.


The 4K ULTRA HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc "Royal Space Force: Wings of Honneamise 4K Remastered Memorial Box [Special Limited Edition]" will be available at screening theaters from October 28 (Fri.), 2022, with the 4K remastered version (sound is the original 1987 version). The first screening theaters will release the Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc "Royal Space Force: Wings of Honneamise" on October 28th (Fri.).


A-on STORE, A-on STORE Premium Bandai branch, and EVANGELION STORE will release the [Special Limited Edition] on November 4 (Fri.). The general distribution product "Royal Space Force: Wings of Honneamise 4K Remastered Memorial Box" will go on sale to the general public on November 25 (Fri.).

The young creators have poured their hearts and souls into creating a vast and detailed worldview, from currency and language to culture, all from scratch, and it is highly acclaimed, as are the characters that inhabit the world. <Story
Sirotsugu Raddat. He is a soldier of the Royal Space Force, an army that does not fight.
The government has abandoned the Space Force, which boasts of a 30-year history, and is now unable to even raise satellites, let alone human beings. Before long, Shirotsugu's dreams of going to space have faded away, and he has been neglecting his training. One day, he meets a mysterious girl in town, Riikuni, who preaches the teachings of God, and his destiny is changed. Shirotsugu volunteers to become a space pilot, despite the opposition of his fellow soldiers.
Thus began the space flight plan to restore the prestige and honor of the "Royal Space Force"....
