Cosmic Fantasy" is a role-playing game released by Nippon Telenet in March 1990 for the PC Engine CD-ROM2. It is one of Nippon Telenet's representative works that became popular following "Dream Warrior Valice," and was planned, scripted, and directed by Kazuhiro Ochi.
This work was a full-fledged adoption of the technique of "using animation to express important scenes in RPGs" in the early days of CD-ROM video games. The beautiful visual scenes that took advantage of the CD-ROM's performance and the talking characters voiced by voice actors were shocking and talked about at the time, and the game became a popular work that later led to the establishment of a fan club, a novel, a manga, and OVAs based on the game. The game became the starting point of the Cosmic Fantasy series.
