Set in the world of Norse mythology, "God of War," released in 2018, was well received for the battles that the hero Kratos and his son Atreus waged against the mighty gods. The game received numerous awards, including "Game of the Year" that year, for its gritty action, profound father-son story between Kratos, who turns away from his blood-soaked past, and his curious son Atreus, and elements such as highly flexible training elements, field exploration, and a new battle system that were well received.

This title is a continuation of the story from "God of War. As Ragnarok, which is said to bring about the end of the world, looms, Kratos and Atreus travel through a mythical world in search of truth and companions. In the divided world of the Nine Realms, the relationship between father and son begins to change. Is it their lives or the peace of the Nine Realms? As the forces of the hostile Earthgals converge, the two defy fate and are forced to make a choice. Atreus thirsts for knowledge to understand the prophecy of Loki and his role in Ragnarok.
