The Gundam Metaverse projectwas announced atthe Gundam Conference AUTUMN 2022 on September 29, 2022.

At the conference, it was announced that the project "Gundam Next Future -ROAD TO 2025-" will be launched to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Gundam series and the 45th anniversary of Gundam plastic models, and that it will consist of three main initiatives: video development, the Gundam Metaverse project, and real events.

Under the slogan "Connect with Fans," the BANDAI NAMCO Group has established the Gundam Metaverse, a new mechanism to connect with fans, as one of its key strategies for its IP axis strategy.
As the first step, the development of the Gundam Metaverse will create a place where Gundam fans around the world can gather, talk, encounter and interact with various categories of content.

Rather than aiming for an immediate completion of the Metaverse space, the foundation will be built step by step. First, virtual communities will be created for each category, and then these communities will be linked through the BANDAI NAMCO ID*.

NAMCO BANDAI ID is an account shared by the BANDAI NAMCO Group. With a single account, users can enjoy a variety of services and content developed by Group companies.

The current "THE GUNDAM BASE VIRTUAL WORLD" allows users to post images of their Gunpla models, but in the future, the aim is to use "GunplaScan" to display Gunpla as digital data, and to display the Gunpla they have built in the Metaverse space. The goal is to create opportunities for fans to interact with each other by displaying the Gunpla they have assembled in the Metaverse space.

A fan test of the "Gun Plus Scan Battle" was also conducted in the summer of 2022 and was well received.

esports colony

Following the Gunpla Colony, an esports colony is also in the planning stage.
The PC version of "GUNDAM EVOLUTION" was recently released on September 22, 2022 (Thursday) as the first title of the esports colony. The home console version is scheduled for release on December 1, 2022.

In order to activate communication among fans, a system utilizing technology that can automatically translate various languages is being developed. In addition, research and development of the AI character "Mellow" is underway as a unique solution to create a space where people want to visit Gundam Metaverse every day.

AI character "Mellow

As the "Prototype 1 AI" that will be the root of future AI characters in the Gundam Metaverse, the AI character "Mellow," which specializes in "interacting" with Gundam fans via live video streaming, is currently under development. In the near future, the AI character will welcome fans at any time in the Metaverse space and play the role of a cast member at an amusement park, such as a person with whom fans can talk, or a person who can provide topics of conversation that can be enjoyed together by fans who are strangers to each other.
The AI characters will also be available for live video distribution in the future. Details will be announced at a later date.
