Share not only your smiles, but also your sorrows and tears! Commemorating the release of "Delicious Party ♡ Pretty Cure the Movie," which is different from the TV anime! Interview with Hanana Hishikawa and Natsumi Takamori
Delicious Party ♡ Pretty Cure the Movie" was released on September 23, 2022 (national holiday) on a nationwide roadshow!
A children's lunch theme park "Dreamia" suddenly appeared in Oishina Town. Komekome and his friends were treated to a children's lunch by the owner, Ketsee, and had fun playing together, but ......... <Something is wrong at "Dreamia"!
As the synopsis suggests, the energy fairy Komekome, Cure Precious's (Yui Kazumi) pair fairy, plays a major role in this work!
We asked Kana Hishikawa, who plays Yui Kazumi/Cure Precious, and Natsumi Takamori, who plays Komekome, about the highlights of the movie.
Hungry for more postrecording? Memories of the recording of "Depapri the Movie
Q: What was your first impression when you read the script?
Hishikawa: At first I thought Ketsee was an enemy, so when I saw the scene where Ketsee, Pam Pam, Memmen, and Komekome eat a cute kid's lunch, I was bracing myself for when he would do something terrible to Komekome and the others (laughs). But I was not an enemy, or rather, I had a very hard time thinking about Ketsee.
In the "Delicious Party ♡ Pretty Cure" ("Depapri") TV anime, they fight, but in the end, they end up purified and full, so no one feels hard. So this time, too, Yui's "I want to make everyone smile! I thought it was a very nice movie, filled with Yui's desire to make everyone smile.
Takamori: When I read the script from the perspective of a comedic comedy, I was surprised because I didn't think they would focus so much on comedic comedy. I was really happy that they picked up my "longing" that I had at that time in this movie.
I can't say that my dream as a comedic comedy came true this time (......), but I feel that the film has become a place for me to settle down and sort things out.
Q: Were there any differences between the TV anime and the movie?
Hishikawa: It was just one day for Yui, but many things happened in that day, and there were expressions that Yui never showed before. What Yui would have said was all turned upside down. Director Akifumi Zako even asked me to make her more sad. ......
Yui is a human being and she gets sad, but I thought she had the ability to move forward even when she was sad. I thought that Yui wouldn't sound so sad, or that she would strain her voice more, so she would be unable to handle it on her own. When that happened, I had a wall of how I should act. After the director told me that, I tried to play Yui without my previous image of her, so I think that is different from the TV anime.
Takamori: The fairies were asked to be more comical than in the TV anime, so they all reacted and ad-libbed to a degree that they don't in the TV anime. I think the reason for this is that we wanted to create a festive atmosphere that is only possible in a movie, or an unusual atmosphere that is different from what we normally do. For me, it was fun to do a lot of reactions that I don't often do (laughs).
Q: Was the postrecording process like you would do for a movie?
Hishikawa: What was the recording of the energy fairy team like?
Takamori: The energy fairy team did what they were supposed to do and then disbanded! It was something like that. But they had prepared a lunch called "Adult Children's Lunch," so when the fairy part was over and we took a break, we had a big party. We also had Delicious Party ♡ Precure Donuts from Mister Donut. They had prepared a lot of food for us, so the three of us ate a lot of delicious food together (laughs).
Q: Mr. Hishikawa, how was it recording with the Pretty Cure team?
Hishikawa: As usual, we had fun during the fun parts, but were serious during the recording. But the moment we took a break, I dashed to the snack corner. I ate the pudding at the same time as Yuka Iguchi (played by Ran Hanamitsu/Cure Yum Yum), and when I took a bite or two, she had finished hers! We laughed the whole time (laughs). You said that pudding is a drink. Ai Chino (played by Amane Kasai/Cure Finale) gave me a lot of rice balls and told me to eat them when I could, so I had a lot of food in my bag on the way home. It was a delicious experience (laughs).
I heard that you and Natsuki Hanae, who played Ketsee, also recorded together. Please tell us about the recording episode with Hanae-san.
Hishikawa: I am glad we were able to record together. In the scene with Ketsee and Yui, I had to retake the scene many times. ...... Each time I did, Hanae-san went along with me, and I feel very indebted to her.
Ketsey is a totally different character from what I imagined when I read the script, and it's even more sad and painful. ...... Hanae-san's performance in the very powerful scenes made me feel like I was a part of it. I didn't want to be outdone by Hanae-san's powerful performance! I was so glad that we were able to record the scene together at the Corona Disaster.
Also, in the scene where we did the retake, I asked him, "How do you get a child's voice to come out? I asked him, "When I do a child's voice, I do it by remembering my kindergarten days. I was like, "What?" and he said, "That was a joke. (Laughs.) "What? I was still thinking, "Let's go on with the show!" So the next time we meet, I would like to learn how to act out my childhood (laughs).
Takamori: I was looking forward to seeing how Hanae would play Ketsee. And as soon as I heard his first words, I thought, "That's great! (laughs). (Laughs). It is a very sensitive role, but she was able to convey the subtleties of emotion with great attention to detail. Even when direction came in, she was able to respond to it and bring out Ketsey's sensitive side, so I knew I was in good hands.
The energy fairies also recorded a lively scene together, which was fun to record, and I was able to watch Yui and Ketsey's delicate performance from behind the scenes, so it was a truly luxurious day. We had the whole Ketsey set!
Hishikawa: I was in the studio for about 10 minutes watching Takamori-san looking at a picture in the back of the script, and I wondered where he was looking. I was wondering where he was looking!
Takamori: I wonder if he was looking at the making of <Dreamia>? It's a fictional stage, so I wondered what was going on.
Hishikawa: It was a very serious atmosphere, so I couldn't keep asking that. ......
Takamori That's because it was when everyone was doing serious scenes (laughs). I was like, "I think I'll just keep quiet.
Hishikawa: I see. That was refreshing (laughs).
A film with a special appearance - let's have a good meal after watching it!
Q: What is your impression of Ketsee, an important character in the film?
Hishikawa: I took a good look at the visual after the recording session and thought, "She's so big and fluffy! I thought, "She's so big and fluffy! I'm sure she would be so fluffy and comfortable if you hugged her, and she has such a cute form.
Ketsee has a very pure heart, so when I learn about her past, I feel sympathy for her. That's why it's even more sad. Ketsey as the head of the school and Ketsey with her other feelings are two completely different sides of Ketsey, so I hope that you will see both sides of her, and that you will be emotionally involved with Ketsey as well.
Takamori: At first, I also thought that Ketsee was about the same size as Komekome and the others. When I received the materials before the recording began, I thought, "How big! I thought, "It's huge!
In the movie, there were many scenes between Ketsee and Komekome, and Yui was there, so I was happy to see that the three of them were going to be connected in this story.
Hishikawa: It's a wonderful movie.
Q: What do you want people to pay attention to in the movie?
Hishikawa: What I wanted to convey in the TV anime "Depapri" was simple: "Thank you," and the desire to protect smiling faces and to share those smiles is something I have always cherished. I think that is really happiness, and I sometimes feel that it is really true in everyday life.
That's why in this movie I try to share all the feelings, not just the smiles. I think there are important things we want to convey from a different perspective than the usual TV animation, so I hope you can sense that!
Takamori: Comecome has always had the underlying desire to be a hero like Yui. That's why it was such a shock for me to see Yui's tears in this movie as Komekome.
I thought Komekome didn't cry much, so I was surprised when I saw her cry for the first time in the TV anime. If the TV anime doesn't show such negative emotions, in the movie she expresses her conflicts, clear resignation, and hesitation not only in her facial expressions but also in her words. I guess that's why I was surprised.
When the comedic comedy "what does a hero look like?" collides with that, you can see the heroic nature of "Depapri. I keep thinking that it is something similar to motherhood. ...... Until now, I wanted to be physically strong! I've always wanted to be physically strong, but this movie made me realize for the first time, "Is this what it means to be a hero?" I thought it was also a story about that.
Children's lunch is a major keyword in this film, but children's lunch tends to be thought of as something that only children can eat. But I think there are surprisingly some people who want to eat it even as adults. ...... So, do you two have any foods that you loved as children and stopped eating when you became adults, but that you actually still like today?
Hishikawa: I generally still eat sweets that I liked as a child all the time (laughs). (Laughs) Nowadays, you can find candy in convenience stores, so when I see them, I definitely buy them.
For example, I ate a pack of three pieces of gum, one of which was very sour, in the studio with Ms. Shimizu and Mr. Iguchi during the recording of the TV animation. I was the one who ate the sour one (laughs).
Takamori: When I was a child, I liked horse mackerels much more than hamburgers, curry, or any other food that children like, and my grandma used to say to me, "You are most pleased with horse mackerels" (laughs). When I was a child, my grandmother would unwrap them for me, and with the concentration that only a child can have, I had no trouble eating them, but now it's a bit of a hassle and I don't eat them anymore. But I still like it (laughs).
Q: This time, "Watashi no Kodomo-sama Lunch" will be screened at the same time, so please tell us about that as well.
Hishikawa: I got really excited when I saw the names of the other Precure characters on the list! I was very happy to be in a film with my seniors. My Own Children's Lunch" is a subjective film in which the children who came to see the movie are invited by Yui and her friends to enter a restaurant, where the story unfolds. I hope that the audience will enjoy the excitement of the film, which is different from the main story!
Takamori: This is a personal story, but I have also appeared in "Healty Pretty Cure" (as Tsubasa Takami), so I felt as if I was connected with the Pretty Cure of that time, which made me a little happy (laughs).
(Laughs) As you can imagine, it's not all Pretty Cure, but people who grew up watching the most recent series will definitely be happy to see it, and I think there is a sense of festivity and specialness in having the characters from different series talk to each other.
I also think it's interesting to use subjective images. I wonder how children will feel about it. I am looking forward to seeing your reactions, so I hope you will enjoy the film in theaters.
Q: Finally, do you have a message for us?
Takamori: I thought that perhaps the characters that the children and their parents will be emotionally involved with may be different. I think it is a good movie that will make you aware of things from both perspectives. I thought that eating delicious food with people you love is really wonderful. It made me realize again the origin of such "de-papri".
Also, in this film, there is a development where you can look special only here. ...... Are you sure? The three members of the fairy group were overjoyed. I can't stop being excited thinking about how the children will accept it and how happy they will be, so I can't wait for them to see everyone's special appearance. They are sure to be cute, so please look forward to seeing them.
Hishikawa: The food looks delicious. We recorded the scene where they are excited at the theme park with the four Depapri members, and we kept saying how delicious it looked (laughs). I think it is a work that makes you hungry, so I hope you eat a lot of food after watching it!
I think everyone can enjoy this work, whether you have been watching Pretty Cure for a long time or have never seen it before. Please look forward to "Watashi no Kodomo-sama Lunch," which will be shown at the same time!
