Jigemon Chanpon Akihabara, a pure white tonkotsu chanpon specialty restaurant, opens today, October 6, 2012! Former site of barbershop "Akiba Barber Shop

Jigemon Chanpon Akihabara Branch, a pure white tonkotsu chanpon specialty restaurant, opened today, Thursday, October 6, 2012. The restaurant is located along Showa-dori Avenue, next to Matsuya Japanese and Western-style confectionery shop. It is located on the former site of Akiba Barber Shop, which closed in March.

Jigemon Champon is a chanpon specialty restaurant that serves chanpon with chewy homemade noodles, fresh vegetables cut in the restaurant every day and stir-fried over high heat, and pure white pork bone broth simmered in a soy sauce base with special Kareshi, a special sauce made from chago dashi.

The restaurant's menu includes "Shiro Chanpon," a creamy broth made from carefully selected pork bones cooked over an extremely high heat for a long time; "Beni Chanpon," an addictively spicy dish with a blend of red chili oil, sansho (Japanese pepper), and raayu (Chinese chili oil); and "Kuro Chanpon," a rich and stimulating dish with "black mar oil" made from burnt garlic and coarsely ground black pepper. The restaurant also offers three types of chanpon: "Kuro chanpon" (black chanpon), which is spicy and addictive with a hint of raayu (Chinese chili oil), "beni chanpon" (red chanpon), and "sara udon," which is a dish of crispy noodles topped with a rich vegetable sauce in pure white pork bone soup.
