New cast information, comments, and character visuals have been released fromthe 2022 fall anime"Urusei Yatsura," which will begin airing on October 13 (Thursday).

Rumiko Takahashi's debut work "Urusei Yatsura" is a love comedy between Ataru Moroboshi, the "most evil" high school student on earth, and Rum, an "ogre girl" who came down from outer space. This is a completely new work, and will be animated in four-court programs. Directed by Hideya Takahashi and Yasuhiro Kimura of "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind" and animated by david production, which also produced "Flames of Fire".

Toshio Furukawa and Fumi Hirano, who played Ataru and Ram, will play "parents" in this work!

The first season (two-cour) will begin airing on Fuji Television's "Noitamina" and other stations from October 13, 2022 (Thursday). It has been announced that Toshio Furukawa will play Ataru's father, Keiko Toda will play Ataru's mother, Rikiya Koyama will play Ram's father, and Fumi Hirano will play Ram's mother.

Both Toshio Furukawa and Fumi Hirano played Ataru and Ram in the TV animation series broadcast in the 80's. They will be joining the world of "Urusei Yatsura" by playing the "parents" of the characters they played in the series in 2025.

It was a long time ago when I heard that a new "Urusei Yatsura" version of Reiwa would be produced with a different cast, that he had been offered the role of Ataru's father, and that Hiroshi Kamiya was going to play Ataru. So, I suggested that we have a seat for Mr. Kamiya as a way to celebrate. I had experienced a great deal of bashing when I played the role of the second generation, so I thought I would be the first to express my desire to fully support him. However, I was not able to do so until now because of the information control system. I proposed the idea of having a seat at the table as part of this desire. So I hope that fans will give their enthusiastic support to Hiroshi Kamiya, Sumire Uesaka, and the other voice actors who will be playing the second generation.

As for the role of the father, it is not easy to be active throughout one's life and continue to do regular work without interruption, so I was simply happy to be able to do so.
