Theatrical anime "Rakudai Witch" to be released in spring 2023: Honoka Inoue, Mutsushin Tamura and Mainaka Ishimi as main cast! Cast & staff comments arrived!

The first key visual for the theatrical anime "Rakudai Witch Fuuka and the Dark Witch," which will be screened in spring 2023, has been released. The main cast has also been announced, and comments from the cast and the original author have also been released.

The "RakuDai Witch" series, published by Poplar Publishing, is a children's book series written by Satoko Narita and illustrated by Enaga Chino, which started in 2006 in Poplar Pocket Library, including the first "RakuDai Witch wa Princess" (winner of the 1st Dream Smash! Grand Prize winner), and 18 titles have been published to date. The series has sold more than 1.6 million copies in total.

The main character, Fuuka, is an apprentice witch who is always making mistakes. But in fact, she is a princess in the magical land of Silver Castle!　This is a story of the exciting adventures of Fuuka and her friends, who are training at a magic school, and a little bit of first love. The story is widely popular among children and adults alike for its fascinating characters and its magnificent, eye-catching storyline involving the past and future of the magical land.

Production I.G will produce the theatrical animation "Rakuradai Witch Fuuka to Yami no Majo" to be screened in the spring of 2023, directed by Takayuki Hamana, written by Kiyoko Yoshimura, and character designed by Marumi Sugita.

The first key visual of the theatrical anime "Rakuradai Witch Fuuka and the Dark Witch" has been released.

The main character Fuuka will be played by Honoka Inoue, Fuuka's childhood friend Chitose by Mutsuki Tamura, and another childhood friend Karin by Maika Ishimi.

In addition, comments from the staff and cast have also arrived.
Satoko Narita, the author of the original story, said, "I would be happy if all the children and adults could be under the spell of fun together at the theater. It was 16 years ago when the first volume of "Rakuradai Witch is a Princess" was released.
When I first started illustrating, I never imagined that it would become such a long-loved series.
I had always heard fans' requests for an animated version, but I never expected it to be a movie version! I was surprised.
When I received the key visual, I felt as if a new wind had blown in the world of "Raku Witch," and my heart leapt with excitement, thinking that if I had encountered the series when I was a child, I would have been hooked.
I am now looking forward to a great adventure with the moving Fuuka, Karin, Chitose and the others!

My name is Honoka Inoue, and I will be playing the role of Fuuka-chan. When I heard that I had passed the audition, I thought it must be a dream. I thought, "This must be a dream. I am very happy because I have been saying "My dream is to be a magician in the future" since I was a little girl until now!
I feel a lot of pressure because this work is loved by many people, but I would like to play the role with all my heart and care, keeping in mind the excitement I felt when I read the RakuDai Witch series for the first time.
I am very excited to see how Fuuka-chan's innocent and adorable appearance and the wonderful characters will be depicted in the movie.
I myself am looking forward to the great adventure in the magical land with Fuuka-chan and her friends.

Mutsushin Tamura (Chitose)
When I was a child, I had a dream of having some special ability and going on adventures.
I also loved the development in shoujo manga where the tsun tsun boy who is a childhood friend of the main character becomes a good friend.
I haven't seen the script yet, but the original story of the Camel Witch was very stimulating to my childhood.
I was very excited! I hope I can play the role of the wonderful Chitose-kun, who protects Fuka-chan even though she is pushed around by her naughty little sister.

Mainaka Iwami (Karin)
I will be playing the role of Karin in the theatrical anime "Raku-dai Witch Fuuka and the Dark Witch"! My name is Mainaka Iwami.
From the time I was looking for the original story at the bookstore, I was excited to remember how I felt when I was in elementary and junior high school!
I am really looking forward to playing the role of the kind and lovely Karin!
