Just outside Akihabara Station! Sneak into "Square Enix Cafe TOKYO" where you can immerse yourself in the world of popular games, food and drinks! The second installment of "Shun Gori's Akiba Exploration"!

Shun Gori, who has been observing the transition of Akiba for about 40 years, visits Akiba today in his series "Shun Gori's Akiba Exploration.

In this second installment, we visited "Square Enix Cafe TOKYO (SQUARE ENIX CAFE)" located in the east-west free passageway in Akihabara Station, which can be called the heart of Akiba.

Square Enix Café TOKYO is a concept café directly managed by Square Enix that reopened on February 1, 2020 in the east-west free passageway in Akihabara Station, offering original café menus and limited time-only collaborative events. In addition to offering original café menus, the store is a "special café space" where limited-edition menus that reproduce the concepts of the works and collaboration goods that can only be purchased here are available for a limited time.

The interior is decorated according to the theme of the collaboration, and game posters and autographs of developers are on display, making it a must-see for fans.

At the time of the interview (November 10, 2022), the "Seiken Densetsu ECHOES of MANA" collaboration was being held from October 29 to December 9. During the period, the restaurant offered a collaboration menu, and monitors in the restaurant showed footage from the "Seiken Densetsu Legend Legend of Mana -The Teardrop Crystal-" anime currently being broadcast, as well as demos and memorable scenes from the "Seiken Densetsu ECHOES of MANA" app game. The in-store background music is also from the game, so fans are guaranteed to be immersed in the game's worldview.

During the collaboration period, some menu items and gifts may change between the first and second terms, so please check the official page in advance to see what menu items and gifts you can eat during your visit.

At the time of the interview, we ordered "Seiken Densetsu 4" (front photo), "Quilt and Quilte Apple Tea" (back left photo), and "Ebony Knight's Black Charcoal Soda" (back right photo) from the drink menu offered throughout the first and second terms.

The "Ebony Knight's Black Charcoal Soda" was a dry ginger ale-based drink flavored with energy syrup and colored black with bamboo charcoal to resemble an "ebony knight" and had a slightly dry, adult taste.

Each drink ordered from the drink menu comes with a novelty coaster. The contents of all 19 types of coasters are randomly selected, and the results this time were Ruri and Shilo from "Seiken Densetsu Legend Legend of Mana" and Duffle from "Seiken Densetsu ECHOES of MANA". In addition, when ordering a food menu item, you will receive a luncheon mat of all seven varieties. You will also receive one at random for each item.

If you are not the character you are looking for, or if you get the same one, there is a corner at the entrance of the store where customers can exchange them with each other, so why not make use of this corner?

There is also a merchandise space where a variety of goods are sold, including limited items that can only be purchased here and goods of works currently being collaborated with the café.

On the day of the interview, the YouTube channel "Open Today! SQUANI MODEL STORE", there were also plastic models and other items made by voice actor Okiayu and other performers on display for fans to enjoy!

The café space is rotated by time, and seating is given in the following order: those who made reservations in advance, those who made reservations on the day, and those without reservations.

Please note that the "Square Enix App" smartphone application is required to make an advance reservation and enter the store.

The merchandise space and take-out corner are open to everyone, so those who just want to buy merchandise do not need to make a reservation. The menu and other items available for takeout will change depending on the collaboration, so be sure to check the official page in advance.

Square Enix Cafe TOKYO is a one-minute walk from the south exit of JR Akihabara Station's Electric Town Exit, in the East-West Free Passage.
